Scania Super Truck
The Racer is built in red and blue and features a functioning V8 engine hooked up to the rear wheels, I feel that the headers and exhaust came out very nice, despite everything not being available in chrome. The cab is well detailed featuring a racing seat, roll cage and fire suppression. The cab tilts and the engine is moved back towards the rear axle for better weight distribution.
The chassis features a steerable front axle but it is not attached to the steering wheel. Because the truck is built so low to the ground (on purpose, because it looks great) the front wheels do not steer very well. In this case I sacrificed a bit of realism and functionality for looks. The rear end features a differential and has working suspension.
Other details include a unique engine cover, roof air scoop, small rear view mirrors, front splitter and custom made decals. The decals are an area where I struggled a bit. First I used a clear, adhesive paper but it was too translucent and the graphics did not show up well. Second I used regular adhesive backed paper but sometimes the white background is visible.
In the midst of this I did build the trailer chassis, floor, rear underside details and interior. The walls of the trailer will eventually be black though they were roughed in blue and red
