Hotel Blue Dawn is now ready for customers!
About this creation
Hotel Blue Dawn is place for all those tired travallers who wish to enjoy their holiday in luxurious and modern enviroment. Large windows and ever-so-graceful black-and-white colorscape make this building very pleasent thing to look at and even more pleasant for travelling customer.
COO: I started working on Blue Dawn quite soon after the Finnish toy store, Pii Poo, announced that they will host again their LEGO event in western Finland. The main idea behind the event was that the builders could "rent" their own site from the city and it's sub-areas and then bring their own creations and place them to their places. Last year I wasn't able to participate to it but this time I was able to go there with bunch of other people from Palikkatakomo, Finnish LUG.
Blue Dawn itself is quite simple creation that has just few SNOT things and angled bricks put in to it in order to keep it interesting. The angles are created by using SirBugge's Hypo-tech". Since the event place was quite far from me (around 400 km), I had to make the hotel modular so that it would be easier to carry around in the train. That's why the whole tower can be lifted away from the lower part of the building.

What does SNOT mean??? Nice building also.
SNOT = Stud not on top, name of large group of techniques that allow you to build bricks sideways, upside down etc. It's pretty common term and technique and there is a lot of info and examples about it. Just google "SNOT LEGO" and you should have a good start :) |

This hotel is truly a master piece. how long did it take you to make this creation?
I started building it at LDD in the mid-August and had it finished in non-virtual form around mid-October. I didn't really build it all the time, just hour or so when ever I felt like it. Only deadline was one LEGO event where I had booked area for it.

Is this minifig size?
Yes this is. The building's groundwork is the same size as the usual 32x32 baseplate. |
