London Ambulance
This is my version of a London Ambulance.
About this creation
Here we have my version of a typical London Ambulance in the now familiar yellow and green colour scheme. It is based on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis. The cab is 6 wide and the main body is 7 wide. It has many features that you will see over the next few pictures.

View of the roof with a tinted skylight and white extractor fan unit.

I made custom stickers using paint shop pro and printable adhesive backed transparent plastic sheets.
The windows on the real ambulance are heavily tinted and appear black. I have re-created this using black tiles and bricks.

Here is the tailgate. There is an opening door on the left with a fold down footstep and a tail lift for a stretcher on the right. There is also a spot light mounted above the doors.

An interior shot showing seat, work light, drugs cabinet, heart rate monitor, oxygen cylinders, fold out saline drip, and just under the drip is a medical case.

Side access door.
The London Ambulance Technician uniform is green in real life. However I don't own any green minifig torsos or legs (really hard to find on Bricklink too) so the old traditional Lego paramedics will have to do.

Dedicated to My Father, who was very suddenly taken from us on Wednesday 3rd November 2010. Sadly the London Paramedics tried but could not save him.
I owe my love of Lego to him and I will miss him dearly. May you rest in peace, Dad.

Cheers Dude, I had a look and could hardly believe it. Thanks for the heads up. Weirdly enough I feel quite flattered that someone wanted to nick it but also disgusted hat someone would stoop so low.

Great work you did here. It looks really realistic I love the details on the whole building. The interior is awesome. Keep up the good work. I'm really sorry for your loss. I've lost my dad too, as a fire fighter/ paramedic I was on duty and responded to the call on June 28 1999 when my father was having a epileptical seizure he was diagnosed with cancer brain tumor and passed away on august 2000.

Good afternoon. I wonder if you could help me, my son has recieved conformation that he due to become a paramedic, a long life dream of his since his used to play with his lego ambulance way back when he was a young boy, and so to say well done, I wondering how I could go about getting a realistic lego NHS ambulance just like yours here, to present to him. I'm not sure if you would copy your model, as I know its a highly regarded tribute. Regards, Lewis

Hello Andy, I like your London Ambulance very much. It couldnīt get more detailed, the functionality, color coordination and decals rock. The van reminds me a little of a 6-wide A-Team van I built when I was a kid:) Concerning the dedication to your dad: I am very sorry for your loss. I donīt dare to imagine yet that my parents will have to go in the future... And I have a 83-year-old grandma to whom I have felt very close ever since I can remember. The possibility of losing her within maybe only a few years or less - I just try to ignore it. Canīt handle thinking about it, cause then I would instantly get incredibly sad. That "ball" grows in my throat when the thought crosses my mind... May your dad rest in peace.

Hey everyone, there are some ambulances in the US that make even this one look tame. They are being tried out by AMR and Mission in So Cal. They are the typical white, but the bottom half of the vehicle is covered with blue and yellow reflective decals that are so bright when light hits them that they are hard to look at. Regards, Eric.

Thank you Eric and thank you to everyone. Naturally we had to postpone our marriage. There was just no way we could go ahead but we hope to do it some time in the new year. Andy, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. It is supposed to be an amazing time in your life with your marriage. Our prayers are with you. Now on to the MOC. This is the absolute best ambulance I've seen in minifig scale. The color scheme and decals are great. You have packed so much detail into such a small package. You have made room for every conceivable realistic gadget. Great build. My sincerest condolences, Eric and Family.

Quoting Matty Mason Hey, sorry about your dad, that must be really harsh. Anyway, very nice recreation of the thing, it's very well done. I'd know what the interior's like after having my neck sprained a few years ago now. The vehicle itself isn't just confined to London though, I've seen these where I live, the North-West...
Thanks for your message. I've also seen this vehicle in other parts of the UK, I've definitely seen one in Ipswich. I think all that's different is the specific area ambulance service sticker on the front and side of it. The yellow and green ambulances are a familiar sight on roads right across the UK.

Quoting sith sera very very good have you tried ebay for green lego tosros?
I've given up with getting Lego from Ebay. Fed up with paying extortionate prices. Bricklink is far cheaper and a nicer way to buy lego. The only green torsos I've seen are the dungaree design which wouldn't be suitable anyway.
