About this creation
Drones!!! Another minifig-size creation brought to you by Crazy Awesome. Credit for the arms and partially the body and wings go to Newt King, and the head gave me the inspiration in the first place, but other than that everything is mine. I like it better, in my opinion, because it offers slightly more poseability and also gives correct color, from Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST.
Here's a back shot of the major Drone, shown in red. This pic is solely for the purpose of showing you the back; all you need to do is change the color of the armor for it to become a major. It's got that funny looking butt thing, like in the games.
Here's a golden Drone (Ultra?) in walking form. You fold down the wings and remove the transparent part, and there you have it. One thing I'd like to make note of are the legs...they're different from Newt's because they offer a standing mode (unlike the 90-degree crouching in Newt's) while also allowing some form of the legs flipping backwards to make it hang upside down like it does in the game.
Here's a green drone, which I just made up to show some more functionality. The head can move quite substantially; however, it cannot turn at the magnitude of Newt's which disappoints me.
Another shot of the turning head. "Hey, you, over there! Make me a peanut butter sandwich!"
I'ts a (rudimentary) swarm! Just shows how they are flying in air.
A shot of the butt when flying. I'd like to make my point here that it took hours for me to come up with a shape that was a) up to scale, b) looked good, and c) added joint flexibility. There were ways that I hadn't imagined: using plates as legs, using robot hands, using Newt's leg design...so many good choices to choose from, but this is the one that satisfied me best. Comments and feedback are greatly appreciated!
Are you transfixed by his stare?
And that's the drone! A short but worthwhile addition to my covenant army. The next thing on the list: Pelican!
And don't forget to check out my other Halo LDD characters, weapons, and vehicles!
Yeah even though LDD is not legit, I find I run out of bricks in no time at all while designing something. If you want to see my Salamander, I can tell you it took me forever to find the last window pieces.
Quoting Captain McCoy (aka Brian T Loomis)
cool, but SERIOUSLY, USE MORE THAN STUPID LDD!!! sry...but still...u should at least try to make something real...
As much as I hate using LDD, I use it because it's convenient and allows some more freedom than real bricks. I do have a few real creations ready...but my photography skills need work before I ever put them up...
