The LV-28 series of ships were originally under development as a medium fighter. It was then thought that, whilst still in the prototyping stage that the vessel looked as though it could do more than just fight. Also, as it had a generally bulky form and considerably light weapons, it would have been too easily destroyed in an engagement involving several enemy ships. So the LV-28 was no longer under the designation of a fighter, but of a multi-purpose vessel that could act as a medical, cargo/courier, civilian transport, general patrol vessel, and other configurations.
The engines take up, if not more than half of the ship's mass.
The underside of the ship has a medium ionic/electromagnetic shield generator, other sensory equipment and forward landing gear (the engine pods act as landing 'skids' themselves).
The sides have communications equipment, and the front of each engine module has a disruptor cannon for dealing with the occasional engagement.
General interior shot.
Fourth wall:
Hehe. I'm doing a fourth wall. :P
I told you it would be a while. I don't really tend to (obviously) bother posting photos too much nowadays. I'm usually on the Xbox playing stuff like Black Ops and New Vegas, etc etc... Nevertheless, I still love this site, as I draw my inspiration from here mostly. Would you believe that I've come up with TWO ship concepts in my SLEEP?! Unfortunately, only one of those will end up making the pages in the forseeable future.
