Expanded City Zoo
Expanded and redesigned city zoo with four new animals and two new buildings!
About this creation
Okay, sorry about the double post, but for the last month, when I've had the time, I've been expanding and improving my zoo. I've added several animals and buildings and improved the design of the zoo as a whole. I also improved the picture quality and lighting. This is likely going to be my last update for a while, as I have a position paper due and finals are coming up in a week.

I'm not going to do as much commentary as I did on the first version, but I will point out the things that are new. Anyway, when your done here, please check out the original zoo (If you haven't already) to see how it all began!

These first two shots show the entire zoo taking up a lot of space on my shelf. Let me tell you, this thing is a pain to move because it sits on three individual baseplates and it's always at risk of breaking in half. Anyway, moving on.

This is an overall shot of the left side of the zoo.

Here we have the first of the new animals - the ostriches! Lego did a great job designing these, and I really wish they would make more minifig-scale animals.

The bat cave has been moved, mostly for safety reasons. Dracula kept scaring the little kids. Haha!

I replaced the vending machine (which I didn't really like anyway) with an all-new snack bar!

The back of the snack bar features a grill and refrigerator.

Here we have Bob the zookeeper and the goats.

Next is the all-new elephant, brick built from the ground up! I really like how this one turned out - he's definitely one of my favorites.

Monkey sort of shares his exhibit with the parrots, but he doesn't seem to mind.

The crocodile exhibit has been moved and resized.

The owls are still here...

As are the frogs. The snake, however, is new.

The parrots.

The polar bear exhibit remains largely the same.

An overall shot of the right side of the zoo.

The gift shop was my largest addition.

Here's the interior with the roof taken off. The gift shop sells coffee mugs, hats, and stuffed animals.

The only exhibit that I removed was the dolphin. It just took up too much space and wasn't that impressive anyway. Overall, I feel like this version is more detailed and more realistic. Hope you enjoyed it! Please rate and comment!

This must be made into a set so I can buy it!!! I LOLed when i saw the goats - they look so real. The details are just right everywhere. If Lego were to make this into a set, I think it would be immensely popular. Sensational Work! :)

AWESOME! I LIKE THE BRICK-BUILT ELEPHANT! I RATE IT 5/5!

I like! How about a spider or scorpion enclosure as well? Or a aquarium section bringing back the dolphins. Penguins can be brick built fairly easy as well. What am I talking about? Why don't I just build one! Great inspiration.

But why didn't you put tiles in the gift shop? From your other MOCs, I see that you have enough brown tiles for that...

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 i love the improved version! all ad ons are great, the pics now honor your creation much better, a few more things to make it even better, what you did with the elephant was great, but , the eyes are on the sides, not in the front, you REALLY need to get the dolphins back! they add to the prestige of your zoo, if you could ever get the rest of lego s animals, no one could ever get close to your zoo, it s already very attractive, make it irresistible! you re getting there,
Thanks! Maybe one day I will!

I guess I just didn't think of that. =/ I might retake that picture. Anyway, I plan on doing a nativity scene for Christmas, so stay tuned!

I like the elephant too. The gift shop is excellent, but you could have put a bit of tiles (but only) there. The new design of the gate is really neat, and the new additions give it a newer (and in my opinion, better) City look- the previous version looked Town-ish. Your photography also seems better than in your previous MOCs- it matches the new City-feel (but before, the odd colors matched the Town feel). When you take pictures from above, stack some books and boxes to form a camera-stand, and it will be less blurry.

Thanks! The reason for that is I finally got a fluorescent light. =) It really brings out the colors better. I could kick myself for not using one before.
