A few Hoati-class shuttles prepare to leave orbit of the oceanic Qua Quatti homeworld, located in a system on the edge of the beautiful, but dangerous Pequod Nebula.
About this creation
There is an ocean planet not far from Phalau, homeworld of the Phalans, that is called Oceanus by the Cargonians. This remote world and its home star system lie on the edge of the dangerous Pequod Nebula, which makes accessing the star system difficult. Despite all this, it is one of the end points of the infamous and lucrative Kurati Trade Corridor - a trade lane that snakes through five sectors of the galaxy and connects 11 alien species in trade and commerce.
Oceanus is the home to two sentient races: the Qua Quati; and the Mantakora. Both of these species evolved from ocean creatures - the Qua Quati from an amphibious creature that once lived in the shallow seas of the planet; and the Mantakora from a species that once lived in the deeper oceans. Most of Oceanus (which is called Hsuala by the Qua Quati) is covered in oceans and shallow seas with a few large island chains. All of the planet thrives with many forms of life.
Both the Qua Quati and Mantakora evolved isolated from one another, but along parallel lines and sharing very similar technology. However, the Mantakora can not breathe outside of water, like the Qua Quati, and so chose to greatly limit their space travel. The peaceful Qua Quati, on the other hand, have become a common sight along the Kurati Trade Corridor, where they enjoy protection from the other civilizations that exist along the corridor. The Qua Quati are aquatic farmers, primarily, and trade a rich harvest of aquatic plant and animal foodstuffs with many other civilizations, including the Cargonians. They also seem to have singular access to a type of energy crystal called, Soa Huut Crystals, and to some valuable resources called Vonta, Doranite, and to supplies of Felca which they process into Felcanite. All four of these are considered rather valuable outside of the Human regions of space, especially along the Kurati Trade Corridor. With these four commodities, plus the always rich aquatic foodstuffs, the Qua Quati do a very lucrative trade business.
The most common, and their smallest, trade vessels are their Hoati-class shuttles. These ships allow one or two independent tradesmen to quickly slip from world to world conducting business. The range of this type of ship is surprising at 15 light years, but there are enough worlds and space stations along the trade corridor that traders using these shuttles never have to go long without stopping. The Hoati-class shuttle, like almost all other Qua Quati vessels, is never armed. There is rarely a moment of danger along the well protected trade corridor (the Feeraas are well paid to aggressively patrol the entire corridor), but all Qua Quati ships are known for their amazing sub-light speed and can outrun most hostiles.
Seen here, a Qua Quatti scans several pure blocks of valuable material while a methane breathing Phalani - in his hostile environment suit - discusses price of the cargo.
Builders notes: this MOC is rather fragile. The roof and bottom of the ship are the same airplane hull pieces which gives this ship a very sleek, aerodynamic bullet shape. The top and bottom are connected to one another by 4 bar pieces, and some cleverly done click hinge pieces at the rear. Other than that, there is nothing holding the top to the bottom. The center greebling is just connected at the center to the engine struts.
