Nativity Scene 2010
The first Christmas in Bethlehem, featuring an inn, a barn, shepherds, animals, wise men, and more!
About this creation
Frankly, I'm shocked that there are so few nativity scenes on mocpages, so I found time to build this in between studying for my finals. I planned from the beginning to build part of Bethlehem in addition to the stable. I also tried to make the entire moc accurate to the historical period.

As I point out the different features of the moc, I will be answering some questions that I know will be asked.

Here are the wise men, carrying gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Despite what the song says, they weren't kings of anything. They were astronomers, which is why they are also carrying navigational implements.

Question: "Is the guy in red Santa?"
Answer: "No!"

Question: "Are those Marijuana leaves on the tree?"
Answer: "No!"

I feel like the inn turned out pretty well.

He was arguably the most influential individual in history, and yet he was born in a cattle stall with nothing but a feed trough for a cradle. It's hard to imagine more humble origins than that.

Question: "Why is the star on a stick?"
Answer: "It's an invisible stick!"

Question: "What are those white things?"
Answer: "Those are sheep. I had to build them, since lego has not bothered to create real ones."

Question: "But why does it take three shepherds to watch two sheep?"
Answer: "It doesn't. They left the rest of their flock with a friend who owed them a favor."

Question: "Why is there only one camel?"
Answer: "Next question please!"

Question: "Why is the angel dressed like Luke Skywalker?"
Answer: "How do you know what angels are supposed to dress like?"

Question: "Why is there fruit on the roof?"
Answer: "Why not?"

Question: "Why is there a tent on the roof?"
Answer: "To cover up the fruit in case it rains!"

To finish things up, here are some shots of the minifigures:

Quoting Deus The Risen 5 things: 1-why is the front astronomer so sad? His savior was born! Look at the one in the back, he looks as if he wants to sacrifice Christ! At least happy about something, y'kno? 2-why is there a guy in jeans that is not hapy either? It's a happy time! Whre's your christmas spirit?! 3-is the guy in red santa? 4-ancient astronomers never used any tools, as they belived they decieve you. 5-THIS IS AWESOME!
1 - um, maybe he's tired from walking/riding 1000 miles? 2 - that's the inkeeper, and he's annoyed that all these people are making such a racket. 3 - did you even read the description!? 4 - didn't know that... 5 - thanks =)

Very good building, the questions were funny. I liked the wooden roof. By the way, are you familiar with 'The Brick Testament'? http://www.thebricktestament.com/job/meet_job/jb01_03a.html
