My entry for the 1-15 pieces category in Yuri Fassio's Spinning Top Contest 2010.
About this creation
It's based on an enemy from the game Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom. It's very similar, except for the colours - the original one's disk was lime and purple. This robot attacks by spinning, so I thought it will be a great idea to make a top based on him. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of him. It has got white arm pieces sticking out, because in the game he had white gloves all around him that, when the robot was spinning, slapped Spongebob when he got too close.
The top is made of 14 pieces. Here are they in order.
It spins. And it spins really well. When spun right, it can spin for more than 30 seconds. I once managed to spin it so hard that the hands looked like they were rotating in the opposite way :)
Run, Spongebob!
I will compete in all the size categories. I've made a food article top and a war machine top. I still need some time to tweak them, though.
That's a sweet little top. I like how you secretly attached the arms where they couldn't be seen. Smaller tops like these are easier to spin because they don't weigh as mush.
