Star Wars Relativity
What happens when M.C. Escher, Star Wars, and Legos collide and explode into a zero gravity jumble of stairs? Well... you get just that. A jumble of Lego Star Wars, stairs, and wacko gravity: Lego Star Wars Relativity. Based on the famous drawing by the mind-stretching artist, M.C. Escher, this build took over a week, and was the first of my creations planned out on paper. Of course, this project was not as much about the build as it was about the final image, but the construction process was still long and arduous. There are Legos facing five different directions, and the project was actually built upside-down compared to this first picture. If this hasn't given you a headache already, please explore the pictures and make sure to rate and comment! Enjoy!
About this creation

This image shows the MOC oriented as I built it, before the image was rotated. The actual drawing by Escher can be found here. My rendition of Relativity includes a representation of each of the three films in the original trilogy. "A New Hope" starts out on "top" with Tatooine, "Empire Strikes Back" is represented counterclockwise with Hoth, and "Return of the Jedi" is represented on the third wall with Endor.

"No Luke... I AM your father." As this scene was so pivotal in the films, it dominates the center of the creation.

Han and Chewie.

And finally, the whole set-up. It took nine different lights to photograph this thing...

EDIT: A new hi-rez image has been added that could be perfect for print-outs or desktop backgrounds!

Quoting Deep Thought 2.0 This is one of your best creations ever! It combines the amazing Star Wars theme with the work of M.C.Escher (you know who I am talking about?). I would really love to see this creation in real life! I am sad your newer creations are not that terrific. Please keep on building! I am a big fan of your art!
If you're coming to Brickworld 2012, you may be in luck! It's my plan to have an expanded version of this creation to display at the con. It's also my hope to get my newer creations back up to that "terrific" level. Thanks for the comment!

Quoting Christopher Baldacci I have a headache. But I guess that's a good thing, right? Still in awe. One question - how did you add that 3rd leg to R2-D2?
If you take the attached stud off of the following piece, http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=1&itemID=10567 you get a sort of double-sided stud. Using one of these modified pieces and a white cheese wedge, you can make an R2-D2 with a third leg. The following piece would work much better if you are considering doing this yourself. http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=1&itemID=780 You can see my modified R2-D2 with better pictures at the following link: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/219820

This is probably one of the single coolest SW mocs I've seen in a long time! I love Escher, and applying the drawing to Star Wars is genious. You need way more detail pics, though (like showing Yoda).

Thank you all so much for the positive response and nice comments I have received on this MOC! To date, it seems as though I have caused at least four headaches. My apologies. (not!) *evil laugh.* Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks again!
Quoting Tr3v0r W. Well presented, You should do a Relativity on MocPages, with he different AFOLS,TFOLS,and YFOLS.
...In an epic battle for supremacy... Nice idea!
Quoting boba hutt Is that c3po as Luke on the "I am your father" part? Anyways great job!
No... It's Luke. Albeit he is wearing Yoda's torso, (don't tell Yoda) and his hair might make him look a bit like C3PO, but yeah. It's Luke. C3PO is in the corner there next to R2-D2 and Ben Kenobi.
Quoting Deus The Risen Nice but you should have added some tiles on the studded stairs, the studs don't go well there.
Yeah. You're right. I should have put some white tiles there to represent snow. Oh well... lessons learned. Thanks for the constructive criticism!
