A re-imagined version of a fictional big brother to the venerable 928 Space Cruiser. The front section is actually a detachable 914 Interceptor (a fictional smaller cousin of the 918) and the rear cabin has tool storage and general cargo space, all accessible through the ramp at the aft of the ship. Visible on the wings are the four BrickFold interstellar drives.
About this creation
The genesis of this model was after finishing the 928X I wondered whether the basic shape could be scaled up (see also the 932 when I get around to posting it). I cut the cabin section off the 928X and then separated the front wings to create the "pincer" section at the front, using the original 914 as a size guide. With the added width the wings looked too narrow so I hollowed them out near the cabin and inserted the BrickFold drive units (crafty application of wheels there) plus some paired radar dishes to round out the wingtips. This though meant the aft was too light, so I added a pair of heavy duty engines then finally greeblified the whole thing. The hardest part was actually rebuilding the underside, which was a bit of structural mess, in order to accomodate the tweaked 914 in the nose. I tried to get a buggy of some variety in the back but couldn't make it work with the ramp spacing, so settled on a "McFly" class hoverbuggy, which stows vertically in the aft section opposite the tool store.
All in all, I'm quite happy with this, although I have a revised version with longer front wings which enclose the 914 and fold back to allow it detach but this isn't quite right yet.
