Marriott award trophy
About this creation
Commissioned by Marriott, this award was presented in December 2010 for excellence in hotel construction. It is the most prestigious award they issue for proficiency in construction, design, participation and collaboration.

Since this award is called the ICON award, each side includes an image that is iconic of the four focal points of the award.

Spin the trophy:

The trophy itself starts out at the base as a hotel-like structure, fading to an abstract geometric shape as you move upwards. A crane at the base of the otherwise serious-looking sculpture is a playful nod to LEGO fun while symbolizing the construction industry.

I love the Lego minifigures on the side of the building! Who won this trophy? Do you know where they have it displayed?

Wow. Nice, Sean. The tropy itself is really well executed, but the concept puts it over the top. Great work!

The trophy itself is a fantastic piece of art, but the spinning video really does the trick. Very cool.

Quoting Sean Kenney ...each layer has a 2x2 turntable in the center and is rotated a little. Each row is then attached to the next with a strategically placed stud here and there where they happen to line up.
Excellent idea. It appears as though you captured a very smooth look with that design.

Great to see a new moc from the creator of the pages! :D Wonderful work indeed, but I also have a question: Do you plan to add any Christmas moc this year? Merry Christmocs! :D

Quoting Blake Baer Question. Each of the beveled layers. Are they connected or just placed onto something like a Technic axle then twisted to the desired angle.
Industry trade secret. Just kidding :) You're close ... each layer has a 2x2 turntable in the center and is rotated a little. Each row is then attached to the next with a strategically placed stud here and there where they happen to line up. (Sturdier than it sounds!) :)

Hey Sean. what a great little trophy. Question. Each of the beveled layers. Are they connected or just placed onto something like a Technic axle then twisted to the desired angle. Great work all around though.
