And a shot showing the detail work. Basically, each 'pixel' is a technic brick (or SNOT brick with studs on the side) with a technic half-pin inserted, on which I have stuck a 1 x 1 round plate. Thus, each 'pixel' is a combination of two distinct colors, providing a lot more color detail than more traditional mosaic techniques.
The first time I saw this I was amazed. Now that I come back with a year of intense MOCing under my belt it amazes me even more. I would never have the paitence to paint a picture from mere pixels. Also, any Star Wars fanboy who doesn't love Twileks must reconsider whether he can be called a fanboy.
