If your wagon breaks a wheel or axle, just ride your horse into town and get the wheelwright. He will grab his assistant they will bring everything they need out to you.
The brewer needs to get his mead to his customers. Rather than pay some trader to take it into town or to the King, he owns his own cart. And to make sure he doesn't sample any of his own product on the trip, his wife rides along side him.
