Oblivion Gate Assault
Close shut the jaws... of Oblivion...
About this creation
Well, after months and months, my Oblivion obsession has worn off. It was a fun game while it lasted, though not really a real RPG. But before I close the book on Oblivion completely, I guess I'll post my final Oblivion creation... one of the universally hated Oblivion Gates!

Visit my website at www.saber-scorpion.com

Every time you run past an Oblivion gate in a hurry to avoid it, the sky will change to a dark oppressive red and black gloom... at least, it will by the time you're a couple of miles away from the gate again. It really doesn't work all that well...

A comparison. Ah, oblivion gates. You either hate 'em or you... well, everyone hates them. I myself hate them but tolerate them because I want to get sigil stones to enchant my equipment (something I'm obsessed with). I even downloaded the "don't close my gates" mod so that the gates would stay open even after I'd finished the main story. Now what kind of a sadistic monster would inflict such torture on themselves? Well... me.

Here we have my character Amy Archer, supported by an Imperial Legion Soldier and Imperial Legion Captain, fighting against some evil conjurer (Mankar Camoran, possibly), a pair of Dremora, and a Flame Atronach.

Why is one Dremora wearing dark grey and one wearing black? Well, I could never decide which one was closer to the actual color of the armor in the game, that's why.

Another full shot of the gate assault. A rather simple model really. When I was really into the game I felt like I might try building the big caterpillar-like Daedric Siege Engine that dies sort of pitifully at the end. But then... well, I saw how pitifully it died at the end. Heh.

Another shot of Amy being flamed by possibly-Mankar-Camoran. He is wielding a staff of fire... the bazooka of the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The nasties! The head conjurer, flanked by his Daedra buddies. Darth Maul's head isn't perfect for a Daedra, but it's pretty close. Actually it's more intimidating than most Daedra, who have vaguely bluish skin, funky reddish brown hair, blurry low-res skin textures, and sport a completely ridiculous permanent scowl expression.

And the heroes win! Amy has got a nice new suit of Daedric armor too. Actually I never made her wear Daedric armor because it's so ugly, but meh. The Imperial Legion guys' accessories (helmets, pauldrons, and swords) are from MCNstore, by the way. Their shields are just shiny LEGO harpoons cut short and stuck through 2x2 dish pieces.

(comic) And just after finishing off the last few badguys, the guards sheath their weapons and strike up a little casual conversation... just another day in Tamriel, after all.

One Oblivion gate down, a couple hundred left to go...

I'm off to play my new game obsession now: Neverwinter Nights 2!

In reply to michael pichula: "Too flat" is my main complaint about it too. I tried fixing that a bit but it kept messing up other things (such as the way it's attached to the ground, the way the fire is attached, some parts being fatter than others, etc.), so in the end I just left it like this. No, it's not perfect, but meh, it's not really something I'd want to spend time trying to get perfect...

In reply to Timmy ltd: You know, there are a lot of different complaints I was anticipating, but "needs to be more rectangular" was certainly not one of them. In fact "not curved enough" is more like what I was expecting. You see the little shape of the Oblivion logo on the game box? That's the shape it's supposed to be. Not a rectangle, sorry...

Very very good! I can't wait to see what you create for Skyrim! I wonder if there will be more planes of Oblivion in the game, as there were only three in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which all look the same (four if you count the Shivering Isles). I have created a Skyrim MOC, and I will post it when I get the time!

Looks like a good MOC. I reduce this by one point, as it looks significantly less exciting without the great background.

It doesn't compare very well...it's not 3d enough...well-like said before, it's flat. But either way, the game was fun "while it lasted"? That game is suppoed to take like 200 hours to complete! If that didn't last you long enough, you seriously need to get a life...

nice moc. never played the game, but, it's nice. just thought i'd mention something. the caption under the little pic on your home page. i beleive, to keep to the same grammar, it should say "all your *brick* are belong to us", not "bricks". still, funny caption.

Ah, so you have posted it. It is, for a pointer, the right shape, yet only one thing bothers me....it's to flat. That's about it. Maybe a few other things to fix up like the spikes on the side, I don't like the flat angled piece. But it looks all right. Good job scorp. And, I NOW PRONOUNCE THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OBLIVION MOCS. So, those who say they don't like it or it's the wrong, shape, go home and try it yourself and prove it better.

Hardly looks like an oblivion gate, it's the wrong shape for a start, it needs to be more rectangular. And add more fire too it.
