AEGAKS-APB 473 M-Wh 'Durandal'
The first M-Frame Fitted with Schrado Industries signature Armored Pilot Block.
About this creation
AEGAKS-APB 473 M-Wh ‘Durandal’

This is the First M-Frame AEGAKS to be equipped with an Armored Pilot Block (APB). The Durandal was originally a standard AEGAKS that was sent to the NAARA to help them develop their own AEGAKS forces. The original pilot was killed in a skirmish and the pilot block was too damaged to salvage, so the scientists of the NAARA fitted it with a newly designed APB.

The Durandal was designed for one thing. To fill the air with as many projectiles in the shortest amount of time as possible. To accomplish this, it is equipped with a pair of fully automatic AEGAKS assault rifles and a SAW pack with two quad-barreled Gatling guns. When the enemy closes to melee range, the Durandal attaches its rifles to its hips and unsheathes its broadsword.

A shot of the Durandal at rest, with no weapons drawn. The claws on the arms were shamelessly stolen from qwerty 10’s AEGAKS 801 M-Rd ‘Entox’.

Durandal’s claws extended. These scratchers are super sharp, and they utilize the same system as the Cerunnos’ claw and the Shinigami’s Scythe, which enables them to cut through energy shields. The overly large shoulders hold the energy supply for the aforementioned system, ensuring that it doesn’t run out of power at a critical time.

The Durandal’s onboard weaponry, consisting of two Heavy Assault rifles, a set of claws, a SAW pack, and the AEGAKS Broadsword. The Broadsword also utilizes the system found in the claws, but it feeds off of the main power cell, which drains rapidly. To combat this problem, the Durandal was given a larger power cell than most other M-Frames.

Just a shot of the back, not much to see here aside from the SAW Pack.

A shot of the Frame with the Pilot block, energy cell, and weapons. The Assault Rifles, like most weaponry from Schrado Industries, utilizes the VAT (Variable Ammunition Types) System.

A shot of the legs from behind, you can see the boosters on the thighs; these increase the running speed of the Durandal.

A shot of the Pilot block.

Open Pilot Block. The pilot of the Durandal is Hector Grey. If one word could describe a person, the word for Hector is: Confident. He is confident to the point of arrogance in the abilities of himself, his mech, and his team. He is mostly talk, but he has the piloting skill to back it up. Hector comes from a military family, so it was a given that he would Join the NAARA. When Command asked for volunteers to pilot the rebuilt Durandal, he was the first one that did so. Hector provided covering fire for many small transports that escaped the NAARA’s destruction, and he only just managed to get aboard the last transport with the Shinigami Squad before it took off. He helped keep Robot drones at bay on the way to Sentai Province as well. He and Garret Ward, Pilot of the Cerunnos don’t get along well, and it may be only a matter of time before they come to blows.

Creator’s Notes
I hope you enjoyed the Durandal, it is probably my last AEGAKS for some time, due to a lack of vital pieces and an unwillingness to tear apart any of my creations. Credit for the Frame and AEGAKS theme goes to Jason Dominguez. Credit for the extending claws goes to qwerty10.

P.S. my next MOCS will be instructions for the SHINIGAMI System Core and Armored Pilot Block.

Until Next Time, Keep Building!

Don't know how I overlooked this one... Fantastic build. The colors are great, and the weapons are pretty sick too. Awesome platform, definitely one of your better Mecha.

How Did I Miss This, Very Nice Work On This Rai, I Really Like The Balanced Arsenal And The Broadsword Is My Favorite Of The Weapons, Really Suiting Color Scheme As Well. Nice Work. Also, If You Don't Mind, It Would Be Awesome, If You To Check Out My Updated First Mech, http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/262316

Quoting Mike Johnson Definitely one of your best mechs. The body and the various guns are top notch. The only component I would change is the broadsword. It just doesn't match the rest of the build. Maybe if it was a shield with built in missles or an exrta gun would work better. That's just my opinion though, take it for what's it worth.
The Broadsword was my favorite part of this mech. I thought about adding another, bigger gun, but it already had four of them, and only the claws for close range. so I thought, "Why not a sword?" Though you may be right about the shield. I could work that into a V2 or another mech entirely if I get more joint pieces or tear apart one of my other AEGAKS.

Very nice M Frame, and I felt that the way you tied your unique style to mine was ingenious. I see that you're a fan of my "Wings of Death." Good color and great pulling together of techniques. I did want to adress the issue of "the old man syndrome". The hunch look of the back is actually kind of standard to the style of the pilot block. Rai's only looks so pronounced because is more verticle than most. All said, very good "missing link" moc.

This is probably my favourite of all the mechs you've put up. Pretty much everything about this mech I absolutly love; the colour scheme, the big sword, the little arm-swords, the guns, the more guns... everything!

I think this one, by far, is my favorite now. Epic color scheme, epic weapons, epic everything! I hope my MAS Division never has to fight the AEGAKS army because they'd probably flat-out lose (well, maybe not, I'd have to do the math first :P)
