The Boneknapper

My next dragon from "How To Train Your Dragon" is the rare and yet terrifying Boneknapper.
About this creation
This dragon has only made a small cameo in the HTTYD movie, but appeared in the movie short. He is my 7th dragon to date.

The Boneknapper is a species of dragon that is thought to be mythical and non-existent
to the Vikings due to it's strange nature. As it's name suggests, the Boneknapper spends most of it's life collecting pieces of bones in order to create the perfect battle armor.

These dragons go the great lengths to find the right bone part in order to complete it's bone armor. As well as hunting down the fragments for many years.

Some have set off to find the reclusive Boneknapper, only to disappear and become apart of the dragon.

I must say that this guy has been the most unstable and unbalanced dragon I have ever made (notice the trans-clear stabilizer beneath).

Sorry about the clumsy looking wings, brick-built wings are not my best.

Now that I've made the Boneknapper, there is just one more dragon left that I know of. Ugh...

I haven't seen the short in question, but the dragon is quite well executed. Building animals is something I stink at, so I always appreciate when a builder makes something that truly looks organic. -Ben

Did you know that there are two new How to Train your DRAGON shorts? One of them shows the Skrill, Whispering Death, Snaptrapper, Thunderdrum, and more. Your models are truly inspiring and I have made and purchased several ldd versions of them. Your Toothless is especially good. If you have not seen the short film, I hope you will. Maybe you could make some of these new dragons into more amazing lego models.

pretty cool, even if it is unbalanced. You made it bulky enough that it actually looks like a dragon wearing armor, rather than a skeletal dragon. good work!

Quoting Alec Konkel You don't actually see much of the Boneknapper in the movie. You cach a quick glimps of it as hiccup is looking throug the dragon manual. Did you make the whole thing up, or did you actually get a good look at the picture of it in the movie?
When the movie came out on DVD, you might have noticed a 2 pack DVD edition featuring the film and a movie short called "Legend of the Boneknapper". You could also go to youtube (if you look carefully) to find the short.

The textures and colors in this all combine to make a terrifying and rather beautiful scene. I can imagine the furious (yet short) battles between the dragon and those that come for, the dragon always adding another bone to its armor after the combat.

Really nice work on this! I usually wouldn't comment on something like this, but the effort and the quality you put into this really shines through. I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to context and composition. I have to say that I think you really nailed both of these. The detail work on the dragon is absolutely superb, and the rocks and bone elements really tie this together! Well done!

I sat down at my computer with this picture on one thumbnail, and a picture of a action-figure of it on another thumbnail, and as I looked back and forth, I was dazzled by your attention to all that minute, perfecting detail. The cave and dragon skull on the ground were like icing on a cake. That "one other dragon" you have to make...it couldn't be the queen dragon could it?
