Class 1020
Austrian class 1020 locomotive.
About this creation
My first LEGO train !
This is an 8-wide austrian heavy freight locomotive. (Similar to the german BR194)
The MOC is in "0"-scale (1:45) which is what the gauge of the standard Lego track indicates, and thus the right proportions makes it 8-wide, NOT skinny 6-wide... ;-)
It meassures 390mm between buffers.

The pantograph is a little blocky. This is the part that has cost me the most time to do. I would like a much finer and more delicate thingy here...

Some roof details...

Note the red lantern just under the roof.

The model is articulated in several degrees. This was necessary in order to negotiate the super-tight standard Lego curves.

-Still I tried to make the gap less visually disturbing, when the parts separates a little in the curves...
I have a video of the loco negotiating some S-curves;

Driver says "bu-bye!" (or whatever austrian equivalent...)

Yay, that's how the old Lego set from the 90s should have looked! 8-wide is the way to go for trains. I really have to get my hands on an American Diesel engine soon... Keep up the great work!

Pantograph is very hard to do in lego, but you did it nicely. And Austrians speak German, so "Bye-bye"="Tschss"

I used to love this locomotive when I was younger. You managed to capture it really well in lego.

Hi Henrik, I am impressed by the talent with which you can build a sailing ship one day, a building the other day, then a locomotive, a car, etc. Etc. Congratulations. This is as always excellent.

If this is really your first train like you said it is then you have started really good. This is one awesome rail machine. A very nice display of the design itself. Bravo!

Great work, a lot of details. The roof part looks very realistic. I guess this is in the SBB colors? The engine houses come out very well, also thanks to the stripings and the grills. Overall a great looking model.

Henrik, this is a stunning build. I like the proportions of it. Trains look better as eight wide. LEGO seems to have a phobia against anything wider. They do the occasional truck, but those usually aren't well done. Your pantograph looks great on my honest opinion. Regards, Eric.

Very nice and realistic model with all the details and features! I'm working now on a high detail model as well, somthing like working suspension, working steering, working engine...etc, it's really so hard to put a lot of details and working elements in a small LEGO model, but you did great on this one, keep it up my friend.
