F-35C Lightning II
This is my 1:39, minifig scale F-35C Lightning II, the world's first carrierborne 5th generation Stealth Fighter, brought to you by none other than the US Navy, which will be entering service within a few years. My moc is 51 x 44 studs and took about 2 hours of building and then maybe 3 hours of tinkering over the following days. I built it out of my F/A-18F, as we don't have the resources to buy parts new for every moc we build. The real life F-35C is 51 x 43 feet, weighs 34800 pounds, and carries over 18000 pounds of weapons using external pylons. It carries ~20000 pounds of fuel and can carry either 2 Bombs (normally GBU-31 2000lb JDAM GPS Guided Bombs) and 2 missiles (normally a mix of AIM-120 Radar Guided and AIM-9 IR Guided missiles) or 6 missiles internally. As said above far more ordinance can be carried externally, but that compromises stealth. It is equipped with a stealth gunpod on the centerline containing a GAU-22/A 25mm Cannon with 220 rounds, which displaces the now normal but slighty out of date M61 Vulcan that we have seen on most US Fighters since the F-104. I am looking forward to comments and suggestions. Before anyone asks, I tinkered with weapons bays in the bottom for a few hours one morning, but was never satisfied with the way the doors trashed the sturdiness and accurate appearance of the model.

Yes sir. Mostly 1:450 ships, I have a few in real life as well, although I never did post them, but I certainly should. The one thing I don't make on LDD is aircraft like these, so much easier to visualize the grand product and how to fit the whole scaled wing plan into a 3D model in real life. I have done a few US Navy sailing ships in 1:72, some USN/USMC Helicopters in 1:72, a 1:250 USS Constitution, and a 1:950 Enterprise CVN-65 I'm particularly fond of. Just not worth the money, although that may change now that I have a job. EDIT: Looks like I posted the Enterprise on here, didn't even remember haha. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/247926

Do you still work on LDD?

I'm glad you like it! Unfortunately, this was never an LDD model, and I don't have it anymore. The wings are various 3x6/2x3 angled pieces, the fuselage is a glorified structural box. I do have the entire US Battle Line of WWI in 1:450 scale on LDD though.

Wow! Good job man! Do you have this on LDD? I want it so much

Thanks! 20 minutes of taking apart and sorting the parts of my F/A-18F, then 2 or 3 hours of building. I spent about 90 minutes giving it opening weapons bays the next morning, but spent another hour changing it back later that day as I didn't like the way the bays compromised the shaping and sturdiness of the model. A few weeks ago I rebuilt it into an F-4B Phantom II that I have yet to post. Since you like this one, feel free to check out my Super Hornet and Ben's jets. I saw you had some ships too, we have lots of those and plenty more to post still... In fact, I went on a big building spree about a month ago and built (out of each other in rapid succession) a 1/475 Cleveland class CL, a 1/475 Little Rock CG, a USS Wichita CA, and then a VLS Ticonderoga class CG.. I need to get to posting those.

I really like this F-35 you did a great job and I am surprised you did not get more likes. also I was wondering how long did it take you to build it.
