Hungarian Horntail
About this creation
I was commissioned to make the Hungarian Horntail from Harry Potter.

The segmented body technique is by Jordan Schwartz. This seemed like the best technique to use given all the damned horns I had to put on. There was a give and take with the wings. I sacrificed detail on the wings for weight because this can't hold up much. Also, the wings would've increased the commission price dramatically had I made them more detailed.

Haha, so much better than what LEGO came up with themselves for the horntail. :'D

@Mike, oh yeah now that you say it, it makes sense. Great design and a very original idea to make that shape, I might use that in the future, thanks for that!

I have spent many hours looking at this dragon looking and learning. It is truely one of my favorites on the pages. I recently made a dragon implementing some of your techniques. Thanks for the inspiration!

Quoting Jan Pennings I just saw it for the first time! What a great dragon! Very similair to the harry potter horntail and great detail. How do you make the neck in that curved shape? I am trying to create a dragon of my own, but I'm having trouble getting the neck correct. If you could sent me some tips or instructions that would be great, thanks!
The entire body from head to tail is connected by a long rigid hose. This is why it curves. So there are about 30 separate segments connected by that tube. each section has a different profile so that the shape doesn't look too repetitive.

Quoting Thoy Bradley Only issue I have is that it has no arms, looks more like a Wyvern than a Dragon. Great build none the less! ~Thoy
The Hungarian Horntail has no arms. I followed references as detailed as I can get.

Sculpture without very many actual bricks is an unusal and uncommon approach, and used to great effect here. Exceptional work on this.

Man, this thing is a beast! I really like how you did his head, that look seriously difficult. As well as the dragon's attack stance.
