About this creation
Ok, let's see, where was I? Oh yes-awesome Lego at Brickvention! (so awesome it need two pages to do it justice)...
GAAARR!! PUBLIC DAY!!!

Mark Curnow's excellent models:

April and Lachlan's rad Star Wars table:

And battle of Hoth diorama. The midi-scale Falcon added a cool element of depth I thought:

Centuri Chan's Imperial Shuttle moc.

Blake's awesome Classic Space base. Very popular with the Dad's on public day: "Look kids, this is what I had when I was your age, etc, etc, maybe there's some still in the shed somewhere..."

Centuri's Space Police force. I was surprised how many kids new these were in the original space Police colours.

Woo Hoo! Old-school technic sets!!

Ryan McNaught's massive "Love Boat" cross-section moc. Oh baby, do I love cross sections!
Complete with a detailed lighting system.

Josh Parris's funky bar:

These next three shots are of the one town layout. totally missed the builders' names of this one...

David scalone's amazing Hogwart's inspired castle.

Darren's lovely "Hyperion" Flying ship.

Sydney LUG's awesome wild west collaboration, "El Bricko", which was, like, the ultimate western playset, featuring main street, saloons, working windmill, train and station, church, fort, gold mine and indian village!!

David Low's table had a nice selection of aircraft and spaceships to be sure:

Tuenis had some excellent building to accompany his excllent trains:

I think this one is his also but I'm not sure:

My favourite moc of the convention (and, typically, I failed to get a good shot of it!) Travis Matheson's "Love Machine"!

A display of Angus MacLane's CubeDudes, featuring Aussie Icons!

These final photos I don't have names or titles for but they were certainly cool:

PHEW!!! That was a lot of pics to edit and post!! I know I missed out on getting photos of a few mocs so if anyone notices I'm sorry!
A huge thanks to the organisers of Brickvention 2011, it was fantastic, inspirational and I had a ton of fun.
Cheers for looking guys, stay well!

Hi Shannon,
I can help you with the builders names for the last three photos. The shark is by David Boddy from Canberra, one of the BrickExpo organizers. The BR50 and the banana van based on a Gs216 van are both mine. As it happened, because i was a BV organizer I was delayed setting up my own display, by the time I did, the tags Ryan had printed out for me had disappeared. |

SO according to Heath my name is now a synonym for toushy... nice. That looked like one heck of a good time! Let's just hope your plans all work out for June my friend. Speaking of which, IF you can make it, we've got a little group project if you're interested... ~ Chris.
I'm all ears! :D

Was there a kid with a lightsaber in the first couple of pictures?
Yeah man, there were some guys from the Australian Star Wars fan club in costume there, they helped entertain the crowds stuck outside in the queue.

Wow, Shan! Thanks so much for these terrific posts of the event. Some amazing work there. I heard turnout was heavy - great to see Lego so popular with the general public. Now if only one of these days we can find a way to get you to BW for the madness! |
