About this creation
Titan is now harder, better, faster, stronger... here: Titan - Nuclear Submarine - V5.2 - Director's Cut

This is my orginal old project for the Titan I started at mi-november 2010.

This heavilly armored and stealth submarine is equipped with 2 torpedo tubes and 4 nuclear missile silos. Its two nuclear reactors provide the necessary energy for every systems aboard.

Two heavy waterproof walls with automatic doors separate the different sections of the vessel in case of hull breach.

Windows on its sides, as the hull, are heavy bullet/pressure proof.

First designed on Lego Digital Designer, more than 5700 bricks were necessary to mount and strengthen the structure. Its total length is about 105 centimeters for a weight of about 12 kilograms.

Quoting Eric W. Hey if you still have your photos saved on your computer, just upload them again! I had to do that because all of mine were lost during the server crash. Just go to your MOC, then click EDIT, delete the HTML stuff and re-upload your photos. Hopefully you can get your beautiful subs and other stuff back up!
DONE, at least for this one! I knew I'd had to do that, but I would have liked to have my picture back automatically, as you! And I talked to Chris Phipson, who told me my pics would be back later... I'm still waiting for them back and since the crash, all my pics have gone too... I had to make the all Titan's main presentation again! :-(

About 2 days and a half to mount it. But this sub no longer exists! With all the modifications I've done since my first design on LDD, 5-6 months to design, order and build.

Yes! Je ne pourrais plus revenir en arrière! Il me semble aujourd'hui trop tassé! Mais j'avais mon design, il n'a finalement que peu evolué, sauf la longueur...

Thanks for your "wow", SISE! Better is coming; i hope my new bricks are coming for this week end! I've re-designed the cooking corner(more accessible, for more people to eat) and the vaissel will be quite a lot longer. Quoting jim mcdonough thats quite impressive especially the interior, like the torpedo tubes, the only downside is the length, most of the American nuclear subs are about 350ft average, making the minifig size around 9/10ft long, apart from that the shape is really good, would prefer a diferent propellor, keep up the good work
Thanks, Jim! You're right, it was of course a question of cost, when i ve decided to shorten it! I hope new porportions will be ok, even if it does not mesure 10 feet! What do you suggest, for my propeller? Can't wait to display new pics with the new version. I promised myself my next MOC would be a real new one! Waiting for the new bricks, i've finally ordered a very good camera, so good pics are coming anyway, i hope this week end!

Quoting Henrik Hoexbroe I saw this one, already when it was first launched here on MOCpages, but I didnt rate it, as I think the photos are too blurry to appreciate well the details. Black is always dificult to shoot, and the use of blitz pretty much destryos everything. (Who am I to speak about this, I´m a lousy photographer myself! ;-) Anyway, an impressive project. The weight and piece-count is suprising, as my own sub is bigger but only weighs around the half of yours. Are you using Technic-beams for the superstructure? -SOme savings might be possible on that account alone...
Thanks Henrik! It encourages me to take at last some really good pictures! I have to borrow a good camera(pics have been taken with my smartphone!). Concerning the superstructure, i'm not convinced that Technics would be much lighter(i used a few). The simple reason why it is so heavy is that when i'v designed it on LDD, i wanted to privilegiate a really strong structure. Im concious it wouldn't have been possible on an U-Boot shape, because they are less massive. I tried my best to link the bricks as strong as possible. Some walls are 2 or 3 bricks wide! I have let when it was possible a few empty spaces on the bottom of the hull. Do you have Lego designer installed on a good PC, in order to see what i've done?

I think a sub like that might weigh something like 20 kilograms. Victor, i'm talking about modifying the rear, not to unmount everything. :)

  February 12, 2011
I used next scale - so 1 real meter is 2 centimetres. 25 studs - 20 centimetres. So 200 centimetres are 100 real meters... At that scale minifigure is 2 meter high man) I dont know how heavy this thing, but I know that it has more than 15000 details... Try to rebuild your sub. Maybe you will find some useful things in my model..
 I made it
  February 11, 2011
Thanks Victor! You are absolutly right about its length: it should have been longer, and of course, it's a question of price! but i would say something like 1.5 or 2 meters would have been enough for me to have good proportions for the rear! It would allow me to put a more consequent number of nuclear missiles(like you!) and a larger engine Room. I'm actually very satisfied about its global shape even if you think a "little thing" is maybe missing... If i ever modify something, it will only be the rear part, including the missile silo and the engine room!!! It would be far too complicated to modify others stuffs: the waterproof wall between rest room and rear is integrated into the bottom and the sides of the hull(and is 3 bricks of width, allowing lateral strength of structure) and i'm very proud of the actual global structure strenght; i can swear it won't bend while moving it! I'll see on LDD, what i can do... The hardest idea for me is i have to unmount all the rear to do that(if i do it, but i'd like!):-)

Nice sub! I really like its interior! Of course, the submarines with such width can`t be so short... But we are not millionaires... And sometimes we can`t afford make all the things that we want... P.S. You have LDD. Try to make a submarine with such width but much longer. I think that it will be, mmm, 2.5 meters long. It will have 3 decks and very much interors... If you have some time try to do it

Thanks Mister Bones! Started by the 15th of November 2010. I would says 4 weeks to make the entire design(on LDD). Ages to make some modifications, order them and integrate to the main model(still on LDD), while i was desperatly waiting for the main order... I might have ordered 6 or 7 more box! And unhappily, LDD doesn't warn you when you've got some weakness point, and i also had to make corrections on the real model. A very few but important modifications were necessary to strenghen the structure... Some are simple improvements, like a side ladder on the conning tower. 3 days to mount the main order(nearly without sleeping during a week end... :-S) And i'm still waiting for 2 last sets to complete! This model almost stopped me from sleeping!!! ;-)

Hello Tommy! at least one person who loves it! it has an interior, you'll be able to see it as soon as i get a good camera(my hd2 smartphone isn't good enough to take these pics). You can open and see the torpedo room, through the sides' windows, there is control room with turning periscope, control screens and navigation instruments... You can also open the rest room, with beds, kitchen, and table to have meal. In order the staff to get some rest, a wide screen home cinema is also present. Same for engines room where you can see 2 nuclear reactors. At last, diving sas is present at the bottom of the conning tower to allow the crew to go out once underwater. I think i'll order a camera now; fed up with my bad quality pics and want to show the interior! ;-)
