Mahindra: Tejas, a Martian Sports Car.
A Martian Sports and Rally car.
About this creation
Ranjeet Shukla was born on Mars to the wandering Hindu geology clans, early settlers and scientists they patrol the wastes of the planet transporting small goods and necessities from one settlement to another while drawing the minimal stipend from the Martian Geology Ministry.

Ranjeet entered the 21st Martian Polar Pavonis Rally which takes place annually (a Martian year is 687 days) between Schmit Ice Base at the Southern pole and the MSA Research station at Pavonis Mons, near the Martian equator. The race is a martian tradition commemorating the emergency transport of oxygen to the base in the first years of settlement.

Although early in the race he did reasonably well, as the race went on his lack of experience and the poor quality of his Mahindra: Tejas sports car took it's toll. By the second week he was in last place. Ranjeet had a choice, try to reach the next checkpoint before a massive dust and sandstorm came in, or sit tight in last place.

Ranjeet and 17 other drivers tried to push further then the checkpoints they were at. Only three of them made it. Ranjeet was not one of them. The storm raged for almost five weeks, well past the battery life of the emergency beacons carried at the time.

So Ranjeet Shukla became one of the 'Lost Racers'; ghost cars, still claimed to be seen by those traveling in the deep martian deserts at night, these lost spirits are one of Mars' first myths and their lonely endless trip through the frozen night helped to define the fledgling settlements sense of stubbornness; “Who else but a Martian would try to make it to the next checkpoint while in last place and while looking out at a storm that was going to last more then a month?!”

This lost racing car was found almost 72 years later and can now be viewed at the museum of Martian History in Marineris City. The body of Rajeet Shukla was not recovered, it is thought he tried to set out on foot after his vehicle became trapped in sand, one final act of Martian stubbornness from a man now all but forgotten by history.

Well, if nothing else, the glitch provides an interesting look into the MOCpages photo uploader's face-punching technique. It's a shame it's messed up that photo, but all the other photos show that this is one sweet ride. Nice work on the write-up as well.

I don't know what's going on with the images here, I tried up loading this one several times and it's still messed up, though it's fine on my PC. I'll try again in a week or so!
