This was my entry for Bionicle Display's "Steampunk Bionicle" contest before it sort of fizzled.
About this creation
The contest topic was "Steampunk Bionicle". So I thought: what constitutes a steampunk MOC? My answer, in this case, was pipes and pistons and plenty of them. Also, the Rahkshi torso thingies on either side of the cockpit are the main boilers. I took the opportunity to use some HF 2.0 bits as well.
Anyway, the Slasher is an expedition mech used as transport through any dangerous terrain. It has a machete for hacking through the brush and a basic claw that can be used in combat or for grabbing things.
From here you can see its main weakness: the pipes. If one is ruptured, the mech is pretty much useless, as all the steam escapes.
I love the way those pistons look. Loads of mildly awkward apparatus are also part of what makes this look steampunk-y. Also, check out the two auxiliary boilers on the lower arms used for moving the claw and blade.
There are two joysticks used to control the mech. The operator works it sitting down.
The feet are weird, but I like them anyway. The legs are nice and bulky.
This is the guy in the cockpit. He's not the focus of this model, but I like how I managed to make him so small with working joints.
