I built this after receiving inspiration from some other clockwork/steampunk creations.
About this creation
Unlike other clockworks, this creation, instead of by steam or electricity, this one is wind-up. You may have noticed the chains hanging down from the back, well pulling one will either wind, or unwind him, depending on which is pulled, then the chain will slowly unravel and make him run. Kind of like a coo-coo clock.
The gear system is so complex that the Invader can even react to its environment, so well even that it seems to be alive. It is armed with a circular saw, a blade, and two claws extendable via hydraulic pressure.
The complex gear mechanisms are very precise, so that the Invader must protect them at all cost, even though the mechanisms are more durable than they might appear. In a fight the Clockwork Invader will usually take the offensive, even though they are also quite skilled in defense as well.
They are highly aggressive, and very fast, so if you encounter one, it is highly recommended not to run, even though hiding is not very helpful either, due to their fine tuned senses. The best thing to do if attacked, is dodge, due to the fact that the Clockwork Invaders are not very agile.
The pipes coming out of the back to the claws are for supplying water for the hydraulic pressure power used in the claws. This indicates that there are hydraulic pumps within the main body of the Invader. Also, this means that if the pipes are severed, the claws will no long will be able to extend or retract, though the wrists and fingers will still be able move, because they are not powered hydraulically.
Looking back at this creation, it looks kind of like a clockwork version of Firehazard.

This reminds me of the Shivans from the old video game, Decent Freespace. I loved that game. Extra points for nostalgia. |
