Bucyrus-Erie 2570w Walking Dragline, Lot #6, "Old Glory"
Considered to be one of many machines that tie for the title of 3rd to 4th largest walking draglines on the planet, behind the BE 4250w and 3270w models.
About this creation

This is my MOC of the Bucyrus-Erie 2570w, Lot #6. nicknamed “Old Glory”. The
2570w is one of B-E’s most successful and longevitive larger walking drags, with at least
27 built and most of which still running after 30+ years. This machine began working for
Amax’s Chinook Mine near Terre Haute, Indiana in the mid-late 1970s .

It is famed for CROSSING Interstate 70 in 1994, diverting traffic to one lane for several hours. It then worked just south of I-70 until Amax went out of business. The machine was parked for just a few short years, sold to Black Beauty Coal, a subsidiary of Peabody
Energy, walked 20 miles in 40 days, across farmland, roadways, railroads, pipelines, fiber
optic cables, and utilities until it reached Farmersburg, where it mined for the next 8
years.

In the summer of 2010, it shut down for a few months of costly repairs, received a
new corporate paint job, and walked another 18 miles, this time to what is currently the
largest surface mine in the eastern U.S.—Peabody Energy’s Bear Run Mine east of
Carlisle, Indiana. Be sure to see my videos at www.youtube.com/draglinesarecool to see
the real machine walking in time lapse videos I shot during the big move of 2010.

Someday, I'll build it in it's new colors too!

The 2nd pic of the real machine is an optical illusion. It's not digging at the side of a lake. Rather, the machine is down in a pit and the water is just a large puddle on top of the high wall (in the foreground) after a heavy rain a few days earlier. Neat illusion!
