It's a shame that in space, no one can hear awesome machinery at work...
About this creation
The Encelades class mining vessels were produced in quite considerable quantities to allow for mining on various worlds, or asteroids. They would be in fleets of approximately 8 ships to support mining operations on the ground, and have an escort division consisting of about 16 fighters or other suitable units (Paragon vessels most likely). However, after a time, it was becoming clear that retrofitting the vessels with medical facilities to account for an increasing number of severed limbs was vital for the operations to be a total success. However, while the facilities were great, it never saw action as a dedicated medical vessel, only for those on board.
A ship approaches the planet of Riteska, a mining colony.
Armament: None. Excluding ADS (Asteroid Defence System) cannons.
Warp rating: 15/20
Length: 74 studs/24.7 metres (to a fig)
Other: One LTV (Light Transport Vessel)
Kinetic Grappling Device (powered by centrifuge)
Airlock, top deck.
Dorsal ADS cannon, This provides effective protection from asteroids, coupled with shielding systems. It's also suprisingly good at tagging enemy fighters...
Ventral ADS cannon.
Engine array. Not much to say here.
The underside of the ship is home to the Gravity centrifuge which powers the Kinetic Grappling Device. This is essentially a superpowered tractor beam that can , in combination with ground based explosive charges, rip out a small chunk of rock from the planet/asteroid. This allows for easier access to minerals buried deep down, as well as those that are in the chunk itself. However, if the device were to fail...well, lets just leave it at KABOOM!
Just to show that the centrifuge does rotate.
Hangar Bay door open, revealing the nose of the LTV.
The Bridge, where all things are controlled. I say all things, I mean most things...
The rearmost section of the ship is home to the dual fusion reactor, medical, and 'quarters'. They aren't really quarters though, just some bunks and a water dispenser.
The DR machine (Diagnostic and Repair). This determines the patients problem, unless it's blatently obvious (sometimes, people lose a hand to a Plasma Cutter, or a foot to a Kinetic Accelerator), and then continues to perform the necessary repair of the damaged tissues. Wait, I just realised that says 'DR machine', or Doctor machine... IT WASN'T INTENDED!!
The mining section. This is home to the equipment, ores, minerals, and workbench.
It has been found that, on richer worlds, the rocks have contained multiple ores at the same time. Precious metals and crytstals aren't uncommon.
The containment unit for minerals.
Workbench and space rock.
The tools of the trade; on the left, there are two plasma cutters, and on the right, there are two kinetic accelerators.
The hangar is home to the LTV.
The LTV is a one man ship that is used to transport various cargos between the ship and the surface, or on rare occasions, ship-to-ship.
Just to show the size, I put it next to a figure and the Paragon 12M.
Work in Progress shots:
I give you the result of 2 nights of work; my biggest ship yet (excluding LDD models). It's also the first of mine to successfully integrate a hangar with a decent ship, again excluding LDD. And it is HUGE! It genuinely is, although the photos may not give an indication, except for maybe the scale one two up from here. I thought I'd include the one of my room just to show what a big project like this does to the floor. And on that note, I leave you to do as you would like. Please rate and/or comment, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
