RoscoPC's Tyrrell P34
About this creation

This is RoscoPC's (RoscoPC's Brickshelf Gallery) Tyrrell P34 from the 1977 season. I've got his permission to publish the model. I take no credit for this car since it's his design, however i did make quite a few changes to it to add more detail. The engine modification was inspired by Crowkillers (Crowkillers on Brickshelf). At this time i'm still waiting for the air intake valves to get chromed and i'll post updated pictures of the finished model then. UPDATE (Jul 18th, 2011): The model is now complete and i've reorganized the pics below. If you want to see bigger versions of these pictures, please visit my Brickshelf Gallery.

Lego purists beware :-) This car has quite a few modified parts including the custom built "mini shock absorbers" that i made by cutting the existing Technic shock absorbers by 2 studlengths. The spring length still needs to be adjusted to make the car's front suspension stay up on its own, but for now i have a plate on the bottom of the chassis to keep it level.

One of the biggest challenges with this model were the stickers. I've re-stickered this car about 4 times since i was never happy with the color my printer produced, even after using the Peeron Lego color chart. In the end i printed each sticker with a thin blue border and then very carefully cut them out with an x-acto knife. In the case of the "elf" logo, i had to cut out each letter individually. It sounds difficult, but it took only about an hour to cut out and apply all stickers.

This is so cool! Nice job! I'm usually not a fan of modified parts and the use of non-lego parts; but in this case it works!

Quoting Turbo Charger cool.can it steer on all four front wheels?
Yes, all 4 wheels steer. Front and rear suspension works as well, as does the dif. The engine is connected via rubber band under the oil tank.

Excellent. It looks just like the real thing. Did you use instructions? Good idea reducing the shocks.

Personally I'm not a fan of doubling the front wheels, but the rest of the model is excellent! The engine looks very realistic and the spoiler and interior plating is really great too. BTW I know how you feel about Lego shocks, they need more variety!
