"The stuff that dreams are made of..."

The use of shadow in film noir is one of its great visual attractions, and here I'm experimenting with some images inspired by publicity stills for "The Maltese Falcon" (1941), the classic noir film directed by John Huston and starring Humphrey Bogart as Dashiell Hammett's hard-boiled detective, Sam Spade. The shadows came out reasonably well, considering this is all done with a cheap digital camera, a 5 dollar clip light, and some basic Picasa 3 editing. When I get time to build a set for it, I'll try to do a few scenes from the actual film, including my favorite: "When you're slapped you'll take it and like it." Oh, for a minifig that actually looks like Peter Lorre!
