My first attempt at a modular building, I went with a modern art museum...
About this creation
Establishing shot of the museum placed next to the Grand Emporium, I decided to start with a half-width building for my first modular build...this unfortunately lead to very cramped interior, so if I try it again, I definitely would go full baseplate.

Close up of the arch entryway, and the primary design element of the building. If I could just figure out a good piece to use for a keystone arch...The entry is loosely based on an actual entryway of a building in Rockland, Maine, just down from the Farnsworth Museum.

The exterior sign reads MOCA, and stands for Museum of Contemporary Art, or My Own Creation Art. :)

A close up of a streetlamp...many people use the sextant to simulate iron scrollwork, but I love the Islander hairpiece as the decorative lamp cover (I think it's original to me, but not sure - apologies if someone else tried it first)...it reminds me of some of the lamps I saw in Paris...very Art Nouveau-ish.

An alternate streetlamp, this uses the weights and microphones from the minifig collectors series

Interior shot...I like the postcard rack and brochure rack on the register counter...

Interior shot...hard to tell, but I was trying to do an art-type stairway with glass handrail...definitely would go a different route if I rebuild it.

Interior shot...I like the comfy bench facing the really big sculpture

Great building! This would look good in a town layout. You should have a floor dedicated to halo kiddies! |

Thanks! I have to admit, the lamp designs came first, and the museum was just the excuse to have a street for them to be displayed on. :) |

Nice work! Great details everywhere, but I'm a fan of those lamps, too. Cool build! |
