Doctor Who – TARDIS Console Room
Finally, after about one and a half year, I finished my biggest and most complicated MOC so far:
About this creation
The ninth and tenth Doctor’s TARDIS Interior.

If you like this project, please vote for it on cuusoo .

Here's a picture of the real one.

It all started in summer of 2009. I just got the all the bricks back, that once belonged to my brother, then to me, then to my nephew. I’ll give them back when my grandnephew is old enough (hehehe).

As a huge fan of the british TV series ‘Doctor Who’ my first MOC was the TARDIS. Not the one in the picture (stop laughing), that one was just a test for different techniques. Here you can find the real one including the instructions. And then – back in the days – I started building the interior.

Of course I created other MOCs in between, but I never lost interest and always came back to this one. I’m glad I did. Here are some more details about the process and the final result (hey, wake up and listen).

A minifig doesn’t look like a shrunken human, more like a jolted bully, broad-shouldered and widish. To fit this proportion, I jolted the exterior and the interior as well.

As I mentioned before, I started building right after my dark ages, so I had to learn a lot about parts and techniques (still do). Therefore especially the TARDIS wall construction changed a lot over the months.

1) First design with the studs pointing outside of the console room. I simply ignored the indentation.
2) Studs now facing inside and the roundels are embedded as they should.
3) I put some more money into it to make the panels studless.
4) I realised that the roundels contain lamps, so I reconstructed them that they’re now capable of containing LEDs.

But even without LEDs, they let some light in.

The entrance (white doors)

The coat rack

The ‘stepladder’ to the upper level.

The 3 seater chair.

One of the 2 power packs for the lightening inside, one for the console and one for the 12 bulbs in the upper level.

Since the actor Chris Eccleston was my first Doctor (left), I chose him for the main pics, accompanied by Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper (middle). Since this is also the tenth Doctor’s console room, I had to make a little David Tennant (right). And to all the purists out there, yes, his coat is obviously non LEGO®, just like Eccleston’s hair. Well, life can be hard.

For those of you who are not familiar with the series (watch it, it’s really good), here’s the TARDIS from the outside. Altogether: “The inside is bigger than the outside”
Thank you.

Here are some more shots of the whole thing.

Finally I hope this presentation wasn’t too boring. Thank you Russell T Davies for bringing back the Doctor and thank you Steven Moffat and everybody involved in the franchise for more cool episodes. And thank you BBC for not suing me for using the Doctor Who logo.

Nice figs, nice ladder, nice.... EVERYTHING!!! Awesome job on the interior and the exterior build! I wonder if you actually fit it inside! Ha ha. Why didn't you push the doctor's head down properly?

Okay, found it: ( https://legocuusoo.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/325064-license-conflicts-and-resolutions ). Well, there is no reason why I shouldn't try it a second time. I never disassembled my console room MOC. Thank you very much for the info, Michael.

Well, I've been a fan for a while now, Thorsten. How I missed this I'll never know. I love this. What a tough subject to take on with the brick. So many odd angles, not to mention the dome shape. You handled it brilliantly. I like how you represented both of the doctors, and why not Rose;) Great work, perfect details, what a MOC!

Quoting Jeff Fauble This, combined with one of Stuart Delahay's MOCs, is what got me into Doctor Who. Since then, I've been crazy about the show and I'm going crazy every week waiting for the next episode. I don't suppose you'll build Matt Smith and his version of the TARDIS anytime soon? Love Tennant & Eccleston, but I wish you'd found a better hair piece for Rose. And where are Martha and Donna? And what about Jack?
Stu's work is always amazing. And yes, my Rose needs a makeover. The rest of the gang will follow soon, but first: Weeping Angels. Then: Matt Smith (again) and the new Daleks. As for the new TARDIS (sorry for using this word again, Chris, but it will happen more often in the future), I'm sure I'll build it, but not too soon.

Wow, nice job. I'm literally blown out of the time stream. BTW, I need some help. I think I'm starting my Dark Age; I don't know why, but I don't find lego as interesting as I did last year. I mean, I could be delusional, but, I don't have time anymore; high school is so demanding. I swear, I can't remember the last 3 years of my life. What was your Dark Age like? Do you think I'll ever like LEGO again? Thanks for your comment, it made me feel better about my designs, but I just am losing interest... It would be interesting to hear what you have to say though. Thanks Chris. Next time I replace the "a" with an "u" and leave the "is", harhar.

Quoting William Vandyk Staggering, just staggering. How did you get the angling right for the roof sections and where are the LEDs from??
Thank you. Actually, it was a lot of trial and error to get the walls right (that's why it took so long). I bought the LEDs in a local store. I think they're pretty common.

As i've told you elsewhere, congrats on the TBB coverage. Great to see how this labour of love progressed and developed and the end results show the dedication and skill that's gone into this. Loving the Eccleston fig - he's often overlooked because of Tennant's impact, but he was crucial in bringing New Who to life and he's a fave of mine. Great job mate.

Quoting StickNik ^^ Oh, My, GOD!!! This, is, AMAZING!!! Too bad the new Doctor Who is... BAD, so as not to say it rudely, but a couple of the episodes are OK. My favourite Doctor is the Tenth (David Tennant), who is yours?
Thank you for the compliment. I like all 3 of the new doctors for different reasons: Eccleston because he was my 'first' Doctor, Tennant because he was always so optimistic and crazy and Matt Smith because he's so 'british'. I like the new episodes a lot. In addition to that, there are still all the old episodes for me to explore.

Quoting Tom Simon Fantastic. As per my comments to Allan Hall, I'd also like to see the larger interior built inside the smaller outside. ;^} (or, if you are squeamish about such topologies, at least photographed with the appropriate perspective through the exterior's doorway).
Thanks for the Allan Hall tip. I have to check out his stuff. Well, your wish is my command, dear sir. But first I have to order some new parts, since my TARDIS exterior has no real doors to open. But then, with a little help of photoshop ...

Thank you. I haven't seen the Sycorax episode in some while, but this is the 10th Doctor (Tennant) and the colour is reddish brown. I'd have prefered regular brown for the minifig, too, especially since the last two Doctors made a joke about not being ginger after regeneration.
