Baracuda-Class Freighter
Today marks two major events in my life, My 20th birthday and the fact that being twenty makes me an official AFOL! So, I got thinking "what should I build?". Then it hit me. I'll build a big minifig-scale ship! It took me around three days to build the wall, the ship and all the figs and containers. One of the most challenging parts of this build was trying to work out all the gears for the thrusters. That was a nightmare! Anyway, hope you all like it and a happy birthday to everyone else out there celebrating a birthday today!
About this creation

This ship is a freighter used to transport ore and other cargo between the alloy mines and the factories. It's hull is extremely resilient but it is not pressurized, so space flight is not possible.

It's six thrusters (should have been eight but I ran out of the required parts)are capable of lifting six times the ship's weight. This lets it lift enormous amounts of cargo!

This quick video shows off the movable thrusters, the back hatch, and the foldable navigation and gunner seats. The gunner seat is only used when the ship is equipped with blaster cannons.

This creation is far better than any lego set that I have seen from lego in fact if this were a lego set i would get it the gears look as if they were extremely complicated to get to work the way you got them to. Only thing is im not a big fan of green tho that shade of green looks as if it were ment for that ship.

Well I must have missed this. This is incredible Jason, can't wait to see what happens on your 21st (probably a night out with Heath ;)) This is a big undertaking but it all works! Love all the greebling, the angles and cockpit design, just amazing.

Wow, impressive. The ship is really good, same for the hangar thingy, great detail. Just the combination of white/grey windows dont look so well.

Brilliant freighter, but as it is not a space fairing vessel, I wonder why you let the engines have full rotation instead of having them stop at a downward angle so as not to hit the other pods when lit and rotating.

I am simply amazed at the detail here. I would definately like to see instructions on the way the engines are geared as they are a magnificant part of the ship. Bravo!

The geared engine pods are great, and the cargo hold is very inventive and makes good use of the overall shape. The dark green and grays go really well together, and I like the greebles spread all over. The background compliments it nicely too, and the crew/robot add good flavor to an already nice ship. Good job!

I am especially taken with the hanger crew and the loading bot. A ship of this quality really deserves a bit of context. The green and gray look nice together as well. Good job. Attack!

Wow. Happy belated birthday, sir. You said that you made this in three days? Wow, that was an excellent build in such a short amount of time. Now with that being said, if I weren't so strapped for cash right now, then I'd have bought you the parts that you wanted to complete this personally. Sadly, moving into my new apartment takes a bit of effort cash wise.

That is awesome. You've found the perfect balance in your greebles; not so much that the overall shape is difficult to make out but not so few that it looks boring.

OUTSTANDING! This is a great ship. Before I saw this I really wanted to build a minifigure starship, now I absolutely MUST build one (will be the first creation I post on MOC pages). Mind if I use your fold-up boarding ramp design? (if I can figure a way to incorporate it into my current design plan).

Even though I already commented on this earlier today I feel i should comment again because this ship is too awesome to not say more! I really like all the details and greebles on it! The way the back opens in different areas to allow access not only makes it more playable but realistic! Again, I really like the color scheme and the use of the dark green for highlights, I think that was clever and very nice looking! The hanger and crew that you built were also awesome and other than the windshield (which I already saw you explained) it looks amazing!

Happy Birthday Jason! Wait....when did 20 become the new 18? Do LEGO nerds have their own "Adult" age for real? LMAO I can't say I ever knew that. Anywho, the ship is excellent. I love the playability factor. I must admit though, that wall is top notch!!

Quoting Tom Simon A wonderful, detailed design, with great extras and, it looks like, nice playability. Happy birthday! (I thought you've been an AFOL for 2 years now?)
Most of the Lego community considers 18 and up as an AFOL. The LEGO Group, on the other hand, says that AFOLs are 20 and up. So technically, I was an unofficial AFOL :)

Happy B-day!! - Yup, this is definitely another great build in your impeccable style of mini-fig scale craft. The folding seats are a superb touch, the rotating thrusters enhance the "heavy freighter" feel, and I'm really diggin' the 'Porter Droid. Nice work, indeed, bro. - Huss Q. I suppose not having the word 'teen' attached to your age does make it more official, so you've got that going for you, which is nice. Belated Happy Birthday and great job on this beast. I kinda like the use of the two different windscreens, it makes it look like one side had to be replaced recently.~H
