Documenting a Lego Spacer's arrival on the planet of Duplonia.
About this creation
MocAthalon 2011, Team Jigsaw, for challenge 16, Lost in Space.
"Oh no! You've crash landed on a distant world. Build an alien landscape. Minimum size allowed is 16x32 studs so we must be able to tell the size. Design plants, creatures, buildings etc not seen on Earth. Take inspiration from movies and books if you want but don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild. Wow us with your creativity and parts usage."

---

It all started when my ship, the HMC Voortrekker was attacked by Mega Blockian space pirates. Years later I found myself free, but in a strange vessel (I dubbed it the Schorpioen), which apparently had a major fault in it's main planetary chart database.

But when I saw this planet off in the distance, I thought luck was running my way, and everything was going to work out. I began my descending orbit and started my nose jets for a landing at about 80,000 studs up. I still thought I had gotten home. It gradually dawned on me that this was not my planet, the plantlife was too profuse, and had a strange look to it, as though it was from the early eons of a planet's formation.

My landing was a bit rough, I think that the size of the studs on this planet messed up my ship's landing cycle. The primitive inhabitants have given me a warm welcome. One of them muttered something about how it would 'Get a lot warmer soon', he must have been referring to the feast they have planned in my honor. There must be some surprise about it though, I feel like there's a big secret that no one is telling me.

The wildlife of this planet seems extraordinarily intelligent, maybe it's just my imagination, but I felt like this pterodactyl was trying to tell me something.

These pics are a bit messy, and I'm not very happy with them. Here are higher quality pics, if you want them. :-)

It is a good spaceship.

Thanks guys. :-) Leda, I realized that the diorama's build would have to be simplistic, so I tried to balance that by building a good spaceship.

I disagree with the other judges on this one... I don't think there is enough here for a really good Duplo entry, but for the lost in space one I think you've done a great job. The category description states "wow us with your creativity and parts usage!" which you have done (albeit with some nerve). If you had combined some more building skill I would have given you a 4. as it stands a solid 3.

Regretable that it was the wrong category - Score = 2

Hope the other judges will like it better. Should have entered it in Duplo? Well, I have something else planned for that, and this was very Lost in Space-y from the beginning of the concept. And thanks Junkie!

Cute idea. Gotta be honest here, you would have gotten more points for this if it would have been entered in the Duplo category. We have to judge each build against it's category and for this one it did fall a bit short. Still, for concept and backstory, you get 2 points from me. (if this was the Duplo category, you woulda got a 4...) ~ Chris.

Excellent! Those bone fragments just reek of cannibalistic rituals.
