AEGAKS-112-MBk "Salthum"
An AEGAKS specifically customized as a frontline sniper. One of the most unique units ever to be completed.
About this creation

The AEGAKS-112-MBk "Salthum" is one of the original six Arkham prototypes.

One of the Salthum's most noticeable features is the left shoulder pauldron. This unique armor piece was constructed of three salvaged pauldrons from Stalker drones that Sakura herself had downed.

The armor on the left side of the frame is much thicker and heavier than that on the right. This is to protect the side of the AEGAKS most often presented to the enemy.

On the back, you will notice an odd module on the right side joint, and the lack of any type of attachment on the left. The purpose of this module is an advance sensor and communications suite.

As always, the pilot block and powercell are ejectable, providing the pilot with increased survivability. The Salthum's pilot block is nearly identical to the original Arkham prototype's, save the color.

It is piloted by Sakura, as she is the best sniper available to the Exo Force. She has declined a photograph today. (Meaning I don't have the proper head or hair for her. I will soon rectify this.) Her combat style compliments Takeshi's very nicely, and the two are often paired up, where Takeshi's Titan often suppressed the enemy while Sakura eliminates them from a safe distance.

Crouching is often the best position to snipe from and the Salthum's customization reflects this. It can crouch and recover quicker than any of the other five Arkham models.

The flap on the sensor module is actual the comm transciever as well as the active sensor array. When it is up, active sensor are in operation and the comm equipment is powerful enough to punch through nearly all of the jamming signals that the drones use.

The Salthum is also able to lay prone for a smaller sillouette, allowing Sakura to hide more readily. This however is a double edged sword as once she's given away here postion, it take more time to recover from a prone position than from a kneeling position.

While laying prone, the active sensors are able to work at their best, since they end up at the top of the Salthum. These sensor are very good for sighting enemy units and for relaying that data back to other friendly units, making the Salthum a good choice for combat recon roles.

The rifle that Sakura uses is a modified standard anti-armor sniper rifle. Her rifle has been modified to be more powerful and accurate, while maintaining its range. The module on the left side of the head is a secondary scope, allowing here to switch views for taking the best possible shot.

CREATOR'S NOTES:

Well, this makes 4 of 6 original Arkham models now complete. Only two more to go!

A comparison of the Salthum and the Stalker Drone, to illustrate the left pauldron armor that was salvaged.

This was another fun one to produce. I was especially please with the asymmetrical look that developed as I built it.

Credit to CEO again, as I decided to use the hands again here, lacking the black droid bodies that I typically use for the AEGAKS style hands that I make.

Quoting arik lego oh wow, I love this thing. for once you made an AEGAKS with a a practical use for the head. :P the color scheme's awesome, the overall shape is awesome, I'm drooling over the sniper rifle, this thing is overall awesome. is there a way to rate it something higher than "excellent"? :P
Glad you liked it, the Salthum was one of my favorite designs. But why don't you try an AEGAKS of your own. Your style.

Quoting Octavian A. hey mate! this is a very well done mech, I love the left pauldron (and the story behind it) the sensor array on the back and the gun looks gorgeous, keep up the good work :)
Thanks. The pauldron was originally the buckler from my Lavari project. I liked it so much that I couldn't part with it, so I recycled it.

Quoting Mike Johnson An excellent point my friend. What good is a sniper rifle if you don't the ability to track your target? The different shoulders really make this one stand out as another quality mech.
The shoulders were more out of necesity than from initial design. I only had one black piece that I used as the pauldron on the right shoulder, so I decided to make the left different. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you, but to be honest the gun isn't new. I made it a long time ago and used it with the 102 Arkham.

Quoting Mithryl Dlarix Very cool idea--especially the shoulder sensor. Most people tend to forget about their snipers' need for good sensors when making their mecha, myself included.
This unfortantely tends to be the case. And I tell you, in real life, I tend to plan for things that most people either forget or don't think about, and I'm often regarded as stupid. Thanks for the positive feedback!

Quoting CEO Luiz Camargo Great model Jason! The body asymmetry looks perfect in this one and the sniper rifle is a masterpiece. The color scheme is also great and the head is a top notch. Imagine a sniper fight between Salthum and Trailblazer, it would be awesome! Oh, and thanks for credits!
Hmm, I suppose it would depend on the pilots. Sakura's the best AEGAKS sniper for the Exo Force, but then again, they are plenty of great snipers. Something worth exploring at the least, yes?

I'll see sbout doing another one for Evolution, but it may be a while. The muses are such fickle lovers.

I love it!! WHOOT! oh..what does Sakura look like? can you take a pic of her and the Salthum in a size comparison shot? Anyways. I LOOOOOVVVEEE the Salthum's sniper rifle. It gives me chills just thinking about how much carnage the Salthum can do on the battlefield.

Aha! First to Comment! This is a very well constructed mech, I particularly liked the asymmetrical shoulders and the sniper rifle. The head is possibly the best one I have seen thus far, can we get a shot or two of the head by itself? I wonder what would happen if Salthum and Shinigami Demon formed a sniper team.... anyway, great AEGAKS, and I look forward to seeing what else you have in the works. Also, would Durandal be considered one of the original Arkhams, or would that be a unit that came along later? I have plenty of pictures of it before it was switched to the APB style, let me know what you think. My email is raischrado@gmail.com Til' next time, keep building! Schrado.
