After the discovery of the Battlestar Galactica, a vast amount of technology was suddenly available to mankind. The utility of the Colonial Raptor was immediately apparent, and a larger version seemed obvious. Capable of short FTL jumps and electronic countermeasures like its predecessor, the Heavy Raptor is also designed to carry a great deal more cargo and personnel.

Came here to spot the big old Technic wheels hidden in the engines. This is a big spacecraft! The tail fins and the canopy are huge for minifig scale. I like how you've carefully used blacks, greys and shades of blue to break up this big spacecraft, without it looking messy. I also like the outside photos where the snow & trees look to scale with the minifigs.
Thanks for the comment, David! It is quite a beast. In fact it comes no where close to fitting in my hangar deck, especially with those fins. But it comes in handy for landing scenes in the series from time to time. It also went to Brickworld this past spring for a special appearance. Glad you liked it!

Very well done! I love the tail fins!
I figured I needed something at least as big as the original Raptor...Thanks! |

Great job! What did you use for the windscreen? I don't think I've ever seen that before... |

Yes! Now that's what I want for Christmas. Looks great -- sturdy enough to take some punishment, with the firepower to dish it out.
Thank you, kind Sir! |

Very cool work, with nice colour choice and awesome real snow pics! Oh, I just love those wheel engines!
Yes, two frakin' feet of snow, actually. Thanks for the comment! |

Heavy on the building, stylin, and I presume armor/firepower. Isn't raptor usually used for light sleek interceptors though? I might be stuck in the 20th century. (I am an old geezer).
In the series it was used for surveillance and electronic countermeasures when flying with Vipers, but on it's own, a transport and utility vehicle. This one is more of a truck, I think. Thanks, Dude! |
