The Russo-Finnish War also called the Winter War was a conflict between Finland and the Soviet Union in the years 30 November 1939 – 13 March 1940 three months after the start of WWII. The Battle of Raate Road was part of the Battle of Suomussalmi where the Finnish army destroyed nearly an entire Soviet division made of mostly Ukranians and captured many supplies.
