The Argonath: Pillars of the Kings
From the Fellowship of the Ring.
About this creation

"Upon great pedestals founded in deep waters stood two great kings of stone. The left hand of each was raised palm outwards in a gesture of warning... the silent wardens of a long-vanished kingdom."
-the Fellowship of the Ring

The first in a (long) list of Lord of the Rings MOCs- the Argonath, giant statues of Isildur and Anarion, guarding the Great River on the borders of Gondor. The Fellowship pass under the gates of Argonath on their Quest.

Isildur.

The heads caused me some trouble. I'm quite chuffed with the 'crest' on Anarion's crown - actually a helmet kindly donated by Viceroy Gunray.

Anarion.

The Fellowship themselves - L-R Pippin, Legolas, Sam, Aragorn, Gimli, Gandalf, Frodo, Boromir and Merry.

Quoting Max Pointner Very accurate to how I imagine it! Love the boats and the way you used both gray and blay for the statues. I also love the fact that you use yellow skin for the fellowship. It is a dying tradition.
Thank you! I admit though, I only used both shades of grey because I didn't have enough of one colour. And I think I'll start a group - yellow skin for ever!

Quoting LEGO Lord Why do they have yellow skin?
Because LEGO minifigs have yellow skin... and I never liked the 'flesh' colour. Minifigs should be yellow!

This is really cool. I think that if you have enough pieces you should go on and do the rest of the rock walls and maybe even the backround.

Very obscure scene/part of the book to capture in plastic but still well done! I like the fact that you use a real, drawn backround. It's less 'perfect' and more raw and real.

Quoting Jon Inman you do realize that Sam has a female torso, with the little "details" lego likes to use... right?
I did realise... but Sam is supposed to be fat, no? He's just, er, let himself go a bit.

Quoting Christopher Baldacci Nice use of the BF Gladius for Sam, and I love Gimli's beard. Where did you get that?
It's just a standard issue 'Castle' dwarf beard. In fact, it's just a standard 'Castle' dwarf. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
