AEGAKS-APB 000D D-Bk 'Shinigami Demon'
The rebuilt form of the original D-Frame. Equipped with the Byakou, SHINIGAMI, and TENSHI Systems.
About this creation
AEGAKS-APB 000D D-Bk ‘Shinigami Demon’

This is the upgraded from of the Original D-Frame, codenamed ‘Shinigami Demon’. The Shinigami Prototype and Amaterasu Celestus were destroyed in a fierce battle, with Tristan Ventu, Pilot of the Celestus being crippled to the extent of being unable to pilot an AEGAKS. The Shinigami’s frame was taken over by one of the new Hijacker drones, but before the computer was compromised, Rai ejected the SHINIGAMI Core and detached the Alloyed Cloak, making sure to wipe as much useful information from the computer as he could. While Rai recovered from his injuries, the robots were busy upgrading the captured Prototype. The word 'Shinigami' is Japanese, and it translates literally as 'God of Death'. So in English, this would be 'Demon God of Death'.

It was several months later that the new Shinigami, nicknamed by survivors of its attacks, ‘Demon’, made its debut in combat. Wielding a new Scythe-rifle, a Variable Chakram, and a double barreled SMG, the Demon was a terror to behold, and even worse to face. However, despite the robots possessing knowledge of the SHINIGAMI System, their Hijacker Drones were unable to activate it because of the unique method of utilizing a secondary neural link to control it. To counter this limitation, the Demon was equipped with a powercell three times larger than any previous AEGAKS.

The Shinigami Prototype was lightly armed and armored for its size, with its only real advantage lying in extreme range combat. The Demon is also designed for extreme range combat, but with several new weapons designed for mid to close range combat, such as the Variable Chakram, shown here in Chakram mode, and the dual barreled machine gun. The Cloak is actually made of a top-secret, ultra-expensive alloy that was specifically designed to deflect bullets, lasers and particle beams. While its defense is formidible, it is not without weakness. It can be damaged by acid, and it will shred it attacked with a blade.

A close-up of the Variable Chakram. Both this and the new Scytherifle utilize a more powerful version of the Vibration Blade System pioneered with the original Shinigami Prototype. It is called a Variable Chakram because it can also be used as…

A sword! Not as threatening or even useful as the Chakram mode, but useful for quick melee combat.

The Demon’s other main weaponry is its claws. The claws also share the Vibration blade technology; they are able to pierce standard energy shielding. Basically these are desperation weapons, but they can be quite effective.

The Demon is also equipped with the MPTE (Multiple Pulse Type Emitter) System, generated from combat data gathered from fighting the Cerunnos Kaiser. The MPTE System can generate four types of energy, one for shielding and two for attacking. The fourth type, Ultimate mode, is an amalgam of the first three, and it is the most powerful, yet also the most unstable.

Demon utilizing the MPTE System in Shield mode (on the right hand), and Destroy Mode (on the left).

MPTE System, Ultimate mode. This mode can only be achieved when the MPTE System is used in conjunction with the SHINIGAMI System, since the MPTE System can’t maintain Ultimate Mode and have it be stable at the same time.

As mentioned in the Cerunnos and Cerunnos Kaiser pages, Ultimate mode is a beam of energy, However, I neglected to mention that it can also be compressed into a sphere and fired at opponents. (Creator’s Note: SEKIHA TENKYOKEN! and also, SHINING FINGER SWORD!)

The Demon shares the Prototype’s composite armor, as well as it’s near- invisibility to radar and other forms of detection. The armor is angled both for radar deflection and the increased chance of deflecting rather than absorbing enemy blows. (Creator’s Note: the legs were actually changed the least, and the feet weren’t changed at all, as compared to the top half, which was almost completely rebuilt.)

A shot of the back. Here you can see that the robots also managed to duplicate the TENSHI System from the AEGAKS unit of the same name.

TENSHI stands for
Thought
Enhanced
Neo
Silent
Hover
Instrument

The name is something of a misnomer, since the TENSHI System enables the unit to fly, not hover. Because it requires true thought to work to its fullest potential, the Robot controlled Demon could never match a human piloting an AEGAKS equipped with the TENSHI System. This was demonstrated most spectacularly when Telsan Dulandis landed a decisive blow on the AI controlled Demon in midair with Tenshi's Beam Naginata.

After the Shinigami Squad captured the Demon, it was refit with an upgraded SHINIGAMI Core unit. Here you can see it and the TENSHI System activated together. The SHINIGAMI Core now acts as the main power supply for the unit, with the added benefit of never needing to be replaced. This is because the Japanese scientists, with the aid of Ryusei Haruki, the Shinigami Squad’s resident Techie, discovered that if the crystal rod that makes up the generator of a standard SHINIGAMI core is shattered prior to being inserted, then the fragments, when compressed into the core, give off energy virtually indefinitely. However, if the Booster System is activated, the fragments will be converted into enough power to triple the energy output of the frame. After that happens, there is a cool-down period while the crystal fragments reconstitute themselves, meaning that the Frame will operate at reduced energy output until the pieces have reformed sufficiently. Each rod is only good for about four uses before the shards are too small to be useful, but the extra uses are worth it.

SHINIGAMI stands for:
Secondary
Hyperactive
Intrinsic
Neural
Interface
Gyroidal
Acceleration (of)
Magnetons
Initiator

The Pilot first needs to activate his (or her) secondary Neural Uplink, providing a direct access between the unit’s main computer system and the pilot’s mind, unlocking the full abilities of the Neural Trace system, including the head, because the SHINIGAMI System requires the sheer processing power of the Human brain to function correctly. Compared to the previous method of energy generation, the Upgraded core generates much more power over a longer period of time, but requires much more programming finesse on the part of the operators who support the pilots.

A shot of the rebuilt shoulders and back detail, the thing directly beneath the pilot block is the energy cell. It is eject-able like the majority of AEGAKS powercells, but it involves purging parts of the back armor, leaving Demon more vulnerable if it has to eject the cell.

The Demon was captured by the Shinigami Squad at the behest of both Rai Schrado and Sensei Keiken for very different reasons. Keiken because it was a terrible enemy, and Rai because he wanted his AEGAKS back. The battle was terrible, with the Susano, Pharaoh, Durandal, Kutori, and Arthas units all heavily damaged. Axios Custom was sliced in half at the waist, Cerunnos Kaiser lost its Wave Pulse Claw and Folding Blade, and Tenshi lost both its legs and left arm. But eventually, the Demon fell. Ryusei immediately began work on purging its computer systems, making sure that all traces of the Robot AI had been irrevocably destroyed. It was then fitted with the Prototype’s Pilot block, which had also been upgraded, and the Alloyed Cloak from the Prototype.

The Demon’s scythe is both far longer and much more powerful than the original, designed for brutal hacking and piercing attacks. This weapon is easily one of the more terrifying weapons ever wielded by a human or drone. The Scythe was chosen as the alt-mode of the rifle because of old English legends of a cloaked figure that strode the fields, dealing out death with a scythe. The psychological impact of this was much more effective on humans then it ever could've been on robots, because robots don't feel fear.

Like its predecessor, the Scythe rifle can also be used as a spear, but with much more difficulty because of its peculiar construction. It is still a devastating weapon at close range, easily capable of crippling an enemy in very few hits, or a single hit if the target is impaled and then the sniper rifle is fired at point blank range.

The rifle can be mounted on the back armor it a manner similar to the Tenshi’s Naginata. As you can see here, it is within easy reach, and Rai can draw, aim, and fire in about two seconds. As with the original Scythe-rifle, this one also utilizes the VAT (Variable Ammunition Type) System, depending on the cartridge loaded into the rifle, it can fire anything from plasma to acid bullets. Even when the ammo cartridge is empty, the rifle can still be used as a projectile weapon by switching to Particle Beam mode.

Here we see the Demon with its Variable Chakram. The Chakram is a difficult weapon to use, due to its unusual shape and the fact that it is a throwing weapon, but Rai prefers to go melee with it if possible, normally eschewing the sword mode in favor of the Chakram mode.

Demon with its scythe over one shoulder and its dual barreled machine Gun in the off hand. Like all Schrado Industries projectile weapons, it is equipped with the VAT System.

The obligatory Shot of Demon without its pilot block and weapons. The Chakram is mounted on the right hip when not in use and the Machine Gun is attached to the left calf.

A group shot of the Scythe-rifle, Variable Chakram, Machine Gun, and head. Like most AEGAKS APBs, Demon is equipped with a high-powered cutting laser in the eye.

The head by itself. The design hasn’t changed much, it is just bulkier and has the blade things now. The head design was changed to be more fearsome, to psyche out its human opponents. The psychological technique was somewhat more effective against the humans than it ever could be against the robots.

The pilot block. It is a minor upgrade from the Prototype, with medium strength energy shields in addition to its armor. It also houses the advanced sensory Byakou System. The Byakou System is a powerful sensory system ideal for mechs like the Shinigami Demon, due to its nature as a sniper. 'Byakou' is a Japanese word that means 'All-Seeing', this refers to the fact that, due to the multitude of cameras placed at critical points on the frame, it has roughly four times the sensory capabilities of most other AEGAKS.

Just a close up of the hands holding the rifle, not much else to see here.

At long last, here he is! My Sigfig! The coat is custom made using a template I found on Mocpages some time ago, I don’t remember who posted it originally, but I appreciate it.

Rai Schrado is the young commander of the Shinigami Squad, and the son of the current CEO of Schrado Industries. Rai is a consummate sniper, but he is just as good at melee combat. Despite his skill, Rai was forced to eject his pilot block when the Shinigami Prototype suffered catastrophic system damage during a pitched battle in the Urban Sector. Tristan Ventu, Pilot of the Amaterasu Celestus attempted to rescue him, but wound up caught in the crossfire. Celestus was completely destroyed and Tristan was nearly killed. The rest of the squad managed to rescue the injured men, but the robots absconded with the destroyed Shinigami Prototype. However, it was missing the pilot block, Alloyed Cloak, and SHINIGAMI Core. Even without these parts, the robots upgraded the Shinigami and turned it against the humans. For several months, Rai had to pilot a standard sniper type M-Frame ‘Deadeye’, while the Demon wrought havoc among the humans. The Shinigami Squad was tasked with capturing the Demon, which they managed to accomplish, but with heavy losses. The Susano, Pharaoh, Durandal, Kutori, and Arthas units were all heavily damaged, Axios Custom was cut in half, Cerunnos Kaiser lost its Wave Pulse Claw, and Tenshi lost both its legs and its left arm. As soon as the remains of the Squad reached the headquarters, Ryusei Haruki got to work on reprogramming the Demon, and purging the Robot AI from its system. Being a genius with an IQ of 183, the task didn't take him too long, and Rai soon took to the field astride the Demon.

Even when he isn't piloting an AEGAKS, Rai can usually be seen wearing his pilot armor, with his sidearm close at hand. He rarely takes off his beloved trench coat, since it was a gift from his father, Reljan Schrado. The trench coat is made out of the same material as the Shinigami's Alloyed Cloak, and it cost just about as much to produce as an AEGAKS R-Frame.

AEGAKS Evolution Story

After the defeat of Mecha One, Rai continued to act as the leader of the Shinigami Squad, hunting down the remaining robot units. He supported Telsan Dulandis' decision to join the Humans on Mars, even going as far as to say that he would go with him, but he had his duties to attend to. The two pilots parted friends, promising to see each other again. Several years later, war broke out between Mars and Earth, and the Shinigami Squad was deployed to quell the outbreak on Mars. Rai and the rest of the squad searched high and low for their comrade, unaware of the fact that Telsan had decided not to fight for either side. Will Rai find his friend? It remains to be seen.

Creator’s Notes

Well, here is another one that took entirely too long to build. I wanted to avoid posting it until I was satisfied, and boy am I glad that I waited. I consider this to be my masterpiece, and I am having serious doubts about being able to top it. My Next creation will be a support unit for Demon, I haven’t decided on a name yet. As always, credit for the AEGAKS line, and inspiration behind the APB, Head, and Frame go to Rabid Goldfish.

Props to whoever can catch the mistake I left in these pictures. If you can find it, then I'll comment on a creation of your choice. If no one can guess within a week, I'll tell you.

Until next time, Keep Building!

Schrado

I could of sworn I commented on this before, but I noticed I don't have a comment on this build. Sorry for that. I really like the feel of this mech. The all black design give the mech a really intimidation factor. The claws are a great touch along with the cloak. The min fig is a perfect fit for this build. Great work and congrats on becoming a Mod.

Nicely done. Such an intimidating monster would scare a weaker mind by mere sight and would not need to fight at all (not to mention if the poor guy chose to fight it. Ouch...) Keep up the good work.

Quoting Shadowa Heartfelt The scythe on the sniper rifle isn't perfect, as in the curvature is different. (and the Anhur would be a lovely pick for you to give your expertise and advice on please)
Unfortunately, that is not the error I was looking for. The one I meant was the fact that the Variable Chakram needs to be partially disassembled in order to be used as a sword, because of the jagged pieces on the outside, when the Chakram is unfolded, those peices would wind up on the INSIDE, not the Outside like they are. It was a small error and hard to find as well. Do you think I should do this for all my creations?

Quoting Mike Johnson I'd call it a work of mecha art in your unique style. Very well done indeed. The only suggestion is to maybe put a little stripe of color, possibly red, yellow or silver to break up the body. I found it actually makes them look better to the eye. Just a thought.
I was considering adding some dark red in random places on the body, to create the impression that it was spattered with the blood of its victims, but I decided against it, since I thought it would be too morbid, not to mention slightly disturbing, especially once it was captured by the humans. Maybe I'll do that anyway and add it as a bonus shot in my next creation, but I wouldn't count on it. Thanks for the tip, I'll try and use it in the future. Schrado

Quoting Shadowa Heartfelt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cj3i30axvM Ultimate mode is a beam of energy, However, I neglected to mention that it can also be compressed into a sphere and fired at opponents. (Creator’s Note: SEKIHA TENKYOKEN!) This is untrue, as the true Sekiha Tenkyoken was never a beam of energy. Or "The rifle can be mounted on the back armor it a manner similar to the Tenshi’s Glaive." This statement is untrue because the weapons for the Tenshi are a Beam Sword, a Beam Dagger, two Beam Throwing Knives, a pair of Anti-Armor fighting knives, and a Beam Naginata.
I used the words 'glaive' and 'Naginata' interchangeably, since they are conceptually the same weapon, which is to say, a blade on a stick. In the case of Ultimate mode, Perhaps the SEKIHA TENKYOKEN quotation is a bit inaccurate, perhaps RASENGAN would've been more appropriate, but upon reading the sentence again, it says that the energy can be COMPRESSED into a sphere and fired at opponents. This was meant to imply that it can be used either way. The mistake is actually something to do with the construction of one of the weapons.

Quoting Shadowa Heartfelt I LOVE IT!!! The Scytherifle is a very fitting weapon and the chakram variable seems useful. I wish there was a way that there could be battle scenes between the drones and the AEGAKS teams and have all of them "showing off" all their weapons. Don't you? Congratulations on finally finishing the Demon! Oh..I built it a Minion muhahaha! I think if I can get enough black and dark colored pieces, I can start working on a dark side of the AEGAKS, like, the "traitors" or the "rouges". I have a drone I built that could be a Minion to your Shinigami Demon. If you'd like, I can try to post it here sometime today.
Sounds cool, I'd love to see what kind of 'minion' you built. I'd have to see it first to make a call on it being a 'minion' to the Demon, since I have a very specific idea about the Demon's upcoming support unit. That specific idea I will keep to myself for now. Thanks for your feedback! Remember, If you find the flaw in this MOC, then I will comment on a MOC of your choice!
  March 12, 2011
wow, this is such a major departure from the rest of the concept. I agree with the point you made that the psychology of being a demonic god of death would be lost on robots, but humans would certainly think twice if they saw this coming at them. The weapons are perfect, and with the backed out cockpit the head makes sense now. The look reminds me a little of General Grievous, maybe it's the hunched over posture and the claws. Magnificent.

No worries. In fact it was a big coincidence, cause I didn't read your explanation of the cloak in the prototype. The same coincidence about Traiblazer and Shinigami wings, Ronin socket pilot block and a Jason prototype, the fuel cell ammo from MARTE and the liquid ammo from Salthum... great ideas that popped at the same time in different minds. People that like the same stuff tend to think in the same way.

Quoting CEO Luiz Camargo WOW, I mean, look this beast! The armor angles are awesome, looks like a F-117 Stealth Bomber. It have a fearsome look, truly seems a corrupted unit that was recovered but not without sequelae. The weapons are great, the rifle is top. It's my opinion, don't be offended, but I disliked the scythe mode, looks a bit odd with that thing (blade) hanging from the rifle. The Chakram mode is awesome and the minigun is also good. The cloak complete the fearsome look and by your description of it looks like it uses the same alloy used in "MARTE" shield called "SCUTUM". Durandal was my favorite but is no more. This one rocks!
I wasn't the biggest fan of the Scythe at first either, but it kinda grew on me. The Alloyed Cloak wasn't adapted from your SCUTUM Shield, it is the same Cloak that was used on the Shinigami Prototype. Please don't take offense at this, but I thought that the MARTE's shield was inspired by the Prototype's cloak, since they shared many of the same properties. Thanks for your comment! Schrado
