This is the McLaren F1, the ultimate supercar of the 20th century. I have tried this car several times before but without too much progress. In fact, while building this version, I gave up several times but finally managed to find solutions for the sloping, angled sides. While the back is not quite what I wanted (the engine cover doesn't lift, it is attached to the roof, and the rear diffuser area also doesn't seem quite right) overall I am pretty happy with this car, among the more difficult to recreate with Lego that I have dealt with. Feel free to view; any comments or suggestions, as always, are appreciated!
About this creation
Despite this being a busy time of year, I managed to fit in time to build the McLaren F1. This is one of the ultimate supercars of the 20th century. Designed by McLaren Automotive, this car was the world's fastest car of its time, reaching top speeds around 240 mph. To this day, it remains the worlds fastest road car propelled without the use of turbochargers or superchargers, the icon for a generation of supercars.
First some all around views of the car:
Open doors - The McLaren has butterfly style doors (like the Enzo Ferrari) however, on this model I opted to build doors that pull out then swing up, which gives a similar effect.
The back engine cover open:
Front cargo space open:
Due to the lack of cargo space in the front, The McLaren also has side compartments:
All opened up:
The interior:
The driver's seat is centered between two smaller passenger's seats, an unusual configuration:
The massive engine, a BMW V12:
With the main pieces removed to show interior:
Some close up shots:
The blade on the side of the door proved tricky to attach as it is at an angle; I finally realized that a skeleton arm would work perfectly, you can see it sticking out here:
The windshield wipers attach under the dashboard:
Enormous headlights illuminate the way:
Driving away!
Thanks for viewing!

Hi Ryan. Thanks for your feedback - remember not all of us are as skilled as you ;). I can’t believe that I haven’t commented on this excellent moc. The detail and bodywork is absolutely stunning. My favourite bits are the; front, sides, back, the interior and the shiny stuffs on the engine. Um I think that is most of the car hahaha. As Tomaso says - It would be great to see another moc from you soon. Something for the Classic Race Teams would be amazing. |

Excellent work. The attention to detail is great. The viewer barely can see the flaws, and that's only because you took the time to point them out. Don't harp on yourself to much, it's a MOC to be proud of. |

Did you know that "Lego" is actually both plural and singular form because "Lego" is actually a phrase-"Play well" (I think) in Danish and "I assemble" in Latin? Can you tell me how you set up your photobox thing? I want the pictures for my Enzo to be good. Thank you! |

Excellent! The best recreation of the F1 i've seen, was considering making this myself but would want to make it in orange and don't have enough of that lol I've also just come out of a dark age so need to increase my collection and learn all of these new tecniques with the new pieces...might take some time to catch up to your standards. I've just put up a Caterham, your comments and feedback would be much appreciated. will definately look out for your future creations, one of the best car recreators on here for sure 5* |

Nice car man!!! WOW ...so much detail everywhere. Nice use of those arms xDD

Anyway VERY cool f1 ... haha i started laughing when i saw The BW V.12 X) nice
also im new here and joined today so please check out my page cause (i know i cant judge myself) im pretty good (jack streat gun on the way!!!!) ~Josh |
