Two mechs inspired by Chrome Hounds, in color schemes of the Michigan State Spartans and the University of Michigan Wolverines.
About this creation
I had fun building my previous mech in the style of the mechs from the xbox360 game "Chrome Hounds", so I thought it might be fun to do some more in that style. Also from time to time I like to do competing models in the color schemes of the college I graduated from (Michigan State U, green and white) and our school's arch-rival (U of Michigan, maize and blue).
So I combined the two ideas, and here's the results.

This is intended to roughly resemble one of the bi-pedal walker mechs from Chrome Hounds, though it's not intended to be a direct model of any particular one.

This is my first MOC using dark green. I've got the dragon set, the big Exo-Force spider and two of the little dark green Exo-Force mechs, and that's where pretty much all the dark green came from.

As I write this, the US college football season has recently concluded. Thankfully, Michigan lost to USC in the Rose Bowl.
|

Unfortunately, Michigan State's season pretty much sucked, and we didnt' even get into a bowl game. Plus our coach got fired.

The first time I saw a tri-barrel gatling-style gun was on a mech by Mladen Pejic . My innovation is capping the end off with the little technic plates and minifig hands.

I can't really get this to pose in any sort of striding position. The feet would need a lot more engineering attention to make that happen.
|

|
|
I'll admit the color scheme is a little blotchy, but there just isn't a lot variety yet in the available dark green parts.

This one's patterned after the four-wheeled Chrome Hounds chassis.

I gleefully incorporated two "Star Wars Shooter" pieces into the cannons on the wolverine hound. Take that, Michigan!

Seen in this photo, each of the four wheels has independent steering.

And here we have the four-wheel steering going the other way.

The wolverine pilot slowly drives away, dreaming of perhaps one day being able to beat Ohio State...

Here's a group photo of all three of my Chrome Hound-style mechs.

ChromeHounds FTW!I love the guns on all three, and the legs on the bipedal one are killer. Definitely going to use some of your ideas as inspiration, if you dont mind. |

I am sad that this, your last creation here on MOCpages, was posted over two years ago. IMO you are truly one of the greatest Lego space builders. Two questions which you may or may not see (but hopefully the latter): 1) are you still building and 2) if you are what website are you posting your undoubtedly schweet MOCs? |

I love the cockpit on the yellow one. My fav, though, is the green one. It is excellently built, and has a great color scheme. I think that the Dragon set was one of the best ones out there. ;-) Anyways, great job. |

An impressive pairing of mechs. I totally love the design on the biped, and it is all the more impressive for the limited parts availability. By himself he would get a 5, but I'm not so keen on the 4WD hence 4. The guns on the 4WD look awesome but the lower body armor looks a bit blocky and doesn't have the same flow as the rest of it, and because it is yellow it is the first place the eye is drawn. I must admit it is a pretty unusual design though and I do like to see different.
Keep up the amazing builds. |
