8804 Minifigures Series 4 Review and Identification Guide
Well, after a long weekend, three trips to the Lego Store, much packet feeling and bar-code cursing my Series 4 Collectible Minifigure Collection is complete! This MOC is a complete guide to the new series with tips on choosing them, information on the Minifigures and plenty of photos.
About this creation

Minifigures Series 4

Lawn Gnome, Kimono Girl, Musketeer, Punk Rocker, Surfer Girl, Viking, The Monster, Hockey Player, Street Skater, Sailor, Soccer Player, Werewolf, Hazmat Guy, Artist, Ice Skater and Crazy Scientist.

Introduction:

This guide consists of a close-up picture of each individual Minifigure with close-ups of the printing on parts that may be blocked by accessories when the figure is fully assembled. Also included our the best ways on how to identify the minifigures. There are 2 ways in which most people choose Minifigures:

Dot Codes:

Here are the codes for the Fourth Series. They are almost impossible to see on the packets and they read from left to right and not right to left. I would only recommend using these if you are going to feel the packet afterwards anyway.

Feeling:

This is the most reliable method and when using it I managed to get a full series without doubles. Underneath each minifigure I have included which parts are best to feel for.

Guide:

Number 1: Lawn Gnome

This is a pretty nice figure that fits in with the Series 3 Fisherman and is the first Collectible Minifigure to feature short legs.
Parts to feel for: The fishing rod is obviously the easiest but can can be confused with other pieces like the Musketeer's sword. Feel for the legs and the hat to check.

Number 2: Kimono Girl

This figure is a great Traditional one and will fit in with figures like the Series 1 Ninja and the Series 3 Samurai.
Parts to feel for: The dress is a dead give-away.

Number 3: Musketeer

The Musketeer comes with a great new selection of parts for Pirates and Castle creations. I recommend buying 3 for those who have the money.
Parts to feel for: The Hat and the sword.

Number 4: Punk Rocker

The Punk Rocker is probably one of the coolest Lego figures ever made. The Guitar and hair look splendid.
Parts to feel for: The guitar is the best although the rubber of the hair is also easy to feel.

Number 5: Surfer Girl:

The Surfer Girl is a good addition to any beach scene and goes with the Series 2 male version.
Parts to feel for: The surf-board is easy to identify once you have felt the edges. Be careful not to confuse the surfboard with the stand though.

Number 6: Viking

This version of the Viking is the best so far, especially with the detailed printing.
Parts to feel for: The small pole, axe blade, shield and helmet make this an easy minifigure to find.

Number 7: The Monster

The monster, although fairly simple looks really impressive and is a great improvement on the last one.
Parts to feel for: This is the hardest minifigure to feel, find the head and make certain there are no other unique pieces in the packet.

Number 8: Hockey Player

This minifigure make a great add on for a Lego Sports collector and comes with a great selection of new parts.
Parts to feel for: The armour plate is easy to identify, confirm by finding skates.

Number 9: Street Skater

Although Lego has already made a Collectible Skater this figure isn't too bland, especially with the new beanie piece, back printing and the printed skate board.
Parts to feel for: The Skate board will feel flat but will have parts that stick out at the bottom.

Number 10: Sailor

The sailor explores a new theme for Lego and along with the winking expression and the printing looks great.
Parts to feel for: The hat and the eye-piece.

Number 11: Soccer Player

Another great sports figure, the soccer played features a silver trophy and lots of printing.
Parts to feel for: The texture of the hair along with the black fez that is the trophy holder. Remember this one includes a black 1x1 round piece like the Hockey Player so don't throw this one into the pile when you feel the 1x1- check for parts of the Hockey Player first.

Number 12: Werewolf

This werewolf goes with the monster nicely and the ripped-shirt effect looks really impressive.
Parts to feel for: The hair (be careful not to confuse with the Soccer Player) and the bone.

Number 13: Hazmat Guy

Probably the most impressive and long awaited Minifigure the Hazmat guy does not disappoint.
Parts to feel for: The tank is really easy to feel, just make sure it isn't a hockey player vest.

Number 14: Artist

With the new paintbrush and pallet pieces, this Artist is really a unique figure that looks outstanding.
Parts to feel for: The paintbrush and pallet pieces are very distinctive.

Number 15: Ice Skater

The ice skater is a pretty impressive figure with her cloth dress and new hairpiece.
Parts to feel for: The Skates, make sure it isn't a Hockey Player though.

Number 16: Crazy Scientist

The Mad Scientist is an awesome figure and the most rare figure in Series 4.
Parts to feel for: The beaker and the rubber of the hair.

I found this series to be the most interesting of all 4 with the new parts and printing. I hope this guide is a help for collectors of Minifigures and people just wanting specific minifigures too.

Quoting SJ Hahaaha Hey, nice review :) But just curious, how do u know the scientist is the rarest? Anw on the same note, what are the rare ones in this series besides the scientist? ^^Thanks!
I know it is the rarest because there are only 2 of them in every box. I am sorry but I don't know which other ones are rare.

The bump codes really are hard to read. But I think I have discovered one of the things that make it extra hard. The bottom seal is sometimes cut really mean, destroying the bump code. See: http://blog.betterthantomorrow.com/2011/03/07/lego-minifigures-series-4-bump-codes/

Great stuff! Thanks for this. Although I went out earlier today to the local Toy Shop not realizing these were out yet, saw them and got one at random, not having the codes on me and I didn't bother feeling just so I could see what I got and guess what... I got the Mad Scientist!

Quoting Michael Kringe I like them all! The only thing I don't like is that they made another surfer, because they already had one in the last series
Yes, the redo of a surfer figure wasn't the greatest idea but seeing as I missed out on the Series 2 one I can't really compare them.
Quoting Ben Veazey Where in target do you think the big minifig boxes would be? (PLEASE respond)
I'm sorry but where I live people haven't even heard of Target. Perhaps check by the tills.
Quoting dimitri dimitri when do these come out
They are out in some places already,(obviously, I know they are out in America now.
