LEGO Halo Shade Turret on LDD
Shade Turret: super awesome futuristic hover-ball thingy!
About this creation
Hello there! As part of my "Spring cleaning," I am unveiling some more Halo stuff, and the first of them will be...the Shade Turret!

First off, a frontal view. This, or so I've heard, is one of the best positions to be in, because the gunner can't (and won't) adjust to fire at you if you are between the barrels. In terms of my Lego version, the front looks ugly.

The side, however, really shines as my best attempt at a circular cockpit area. I think the construction and scaling went well for this side view.

Top view, not as beautiful as the last pic but still nice. I must admit, my shade turret is a bit on the thin side.

First off, the platform. I thought it worked out really well with the angled slopes and the center hover-thingy, so overall, I call this part a success.

More of the platform, and how I used a 2x1 one-stud plate to connect the bottom of the turret to the stand.

The backside, showing the curvy-bar thingies and the rounded curvature of the bottom.

Although the turret ball itself can't go up and down, I made the blasters able to do so...

...and of course, the ball can move side to side, 360 degrees as a matter of fact.

Two Shade turrets bombard a helpless Warthog with plasma bolts. Just fo show.

Removing the side plating, we can see that a grey man (and a Spartan, marine, or any other human) can fit inside the shade perfectly, but I'm not sure if it's to scale (again, stupid Halopedia). A Grunt, although not shown, can also fit albeit a bit squeezed on the sides. An Elite, unfortunately, cannot fit.

Backside overhead, showing the two 1x1 headlight bricks that connect to the bottom of the feet of the human/Grunt. I guess you COULD fit an Elite inside...but a lack of connection points and a squeeze will make it difficult to pull off.

And that's it! Hope you enjoyed the Shade turret: my opinions are that it is average, with some key pros yet also some cons. Please rate and comment!

And don't forget to check out my other Halo LDD stuff!

Quoting Drako Rouge Nice turret. You do know that it is a burnt orange color in the game right?
Yeah, I noticed it in the pics. But in order for it to be buyer-friendly (that is, people can download the instructions and buy it themselves), I had to make it red. Glad you like it!

Very accurate in my opinion, my favorite part would be the bottom. Sde Note: those things are so annoying, especially in tanks. >Eric

Quoting Bohrok Lord Looks quite like the real thing! Did you know that a version of it appears in Halo: CE? (Combat Evolved, not Custom Edition.) It looked VERY different, however. - Spartan 66/Bohrok Lord
Yeah, I was considering making Shades from all of the games: Halos 1, 2, 3, HW, and Reach, because they're all different!
