What do you get when you cross a truck with a tank?
About this creation
The M-23 Marathon is the latest AFV used by the Dawn Forge. Weighing in at nearly ten tons, the M-23 relies on its large engine to power it along at up to 85 m.p.h. As its name implies, the M-23 has huge endurance, able to drive and fight for days.
Armament: 1 35mm autocannon turret, or 1 30mm gatling gun
Armor: 6-12 in composite, consists of alternating layers of tungsten, carbon fiber, and shock-absorbant gel.
The M-23 has a huge 20 in ground clearance to protect against mines and aid in off-road performance. It also makes the mechanics happy. Also shown is the side antenna.
Nothing like having a solid tungsten bumper on the front. Aids in knocking down trees, smashing through barricades, playing chicken, and scaring children. The thing on the side is a LMG (or BFG, depending on how you see it) for infantry.
Butt shot, showing the suspension. (Yes, I know it's not real! Sheesh!)
The 35mm autocannon turret. Partially inspired by modern 5 in gun mounts. This turret has a 360 degree field of fire and can shred through most armor due to its high velocity. It is also good for lighting BBQs and taking out annoying tailgaters.
Aah, the 30mm gatling gun. It turns you into a one-AFV army. Despite the smaller caliber, this gun can blast enemies to craters, if they don't surrender first. This gun makes infantry pee their pants.
Another shot of the gatling gun. On the M-23, this gun uses a (big) ammo box, but on larger vehicles, there is a chain-feed system, which allows for more ammo and a higher rate of fire.
If you take the weapon mount out (but why would you do that?!), The M-23 makes a decent hauler.
Here is our lovely assistant showing off her minigun skills. Seriously though, don't mess with her.
This took about 2 or 3 hours to build, with a few tweeks.
I am sorry that this MOC is dirty, see home page for details.
During photography, the neighbor's cat stopped by for a visit.
