For those annoying ambushes.
About this creation
The SM-23 Viper is a strong, fast mech well-suited for skirmishing and hit-and-run tactics. Its relatively light weight (8 tons) and powerful legs give this mech a top speed of about 95 m.p.h. It can be used in almost any role, from recon to straight-up combat. This mech also has high mobility, able to accompany infantry on almost any terrain, a feat that would twist most other mechs legs up. Its small size allows it to be stored in bomb shelters.
Armament: 2 rocket pods containing 12 rockets each, 1 35mm autocannon
Armor: 3 in composite, consists of alternating layers of tungsten, carbon fiber, and shock-absorbant gel.

Front view, showing the rocket pods and weapon holder, which in this case, is holding a shotgun.

The 35mm autocannon. This is the same weapon found on the M-23 halftrack, but it isn't in a turret. It has a 180 degree field of fire in front of the mech, good for dealing with ambushes, general combat, and getting massive combos and killstreaks.

Leg overview. I really like the joint technique that Brian Kescenovitz created. It makes the joints look functional.

The foot. The exposed shock absorbers and ball joint are the key to this mechs mobility. Aside from a bar to keep rocks n' such out, there is little protection, allowing greater movement. This makes the foot an obvious weak point, but the mobility advantages outweigh the disadvantages of no armor.

Real world demonstration #1

Real world demonstration #2

Real world demonstration #3 Yes, it is standing in water, and no, it didn't fall over once in these demonstrations.

Although the SM-43 can go all these places, it performs best on flat ground, just like every other ground vehicle. Also, the side of the nose is supposed to look like it has air intakes, and is not due to lack of parts.

"Die, foul fiend!" Sorry, couldn't resist!

Here's the female pilot with the shotgun for scale.

Here she is again. No, she isn't single, so don't ask.

Oops! I almost forgot to put in a rear shot. Nothing great, but here it is.
Notes:
This took about 3 hours to build, with a few tweeks.
I am sorry that this MOC is dirty, see home page for details.
During photography, the neighbor's cats stopped by for a visit again.

Very cool just a little note though, I didn't like the back of the rocket tubes you might want to put a flat plate there |
