1 Firefighter made the supreme sacrifice at this general alarm fire on 4/6/11
About this creation
Firefighter Jason M. Smith of Truck Co. 2 made the supreme sacrifice while searching the third floor of the Jakeland Clipper Public House at 85 Coal St. The fire grew into a General Alarm assignment and M/A from Rochelle Heights, Lego Twp, St Lego, Buildington, Buena Vista, New Brickington, South Palm, Midlego, North Lereado, Bergen Heights, Legocreek and Paradise City were called in to cover the city and to the scene. Firefighters fought the blaze into the early morning as hot spots inside the structure continued to burn. Once all visible hot spots were extinguished, and the Jakeland Building Dept. declared the structure safe, crews from Truck 2 and Rescue 1 were able to remove Firefighter Jason M. Smith from the structure. Viewing will be at Porco Memorial Home, 156 Bergenfield Ave, Jakeland, NJ on 4/9/11. Church services will be held at St Marks in Lego Twp. The burial will be a private event for family, friends and the Jakeland Fire Dept.

Was this inspired by an actual event? A LODD is a nightmare that I hope never to experience. My department lost a member to cancer. Although it was not a LODD it still was a terrible loss.
This is to show off the brotherhood of the fire service. This was not based on any event, if it is similar that is just a coincidence. There will be pics of the funeral once I am able to take them. |
