I am now in the fifth month of construction on this and both enthusiasm and motivation are starting to wane. So, I am posting this quick progress report to re-energize myself in order to see this through to completion. Peruse at your leisure; your thoughts and comments on this project are greatly appreciated.
About this creation
Overhead shot. SHIP is now at its (likely) final length of roughly 130 studs (~1 m). Moving fore to aft, the rest of the photos below are detail shots.
The transition from the main body into the engine pods wasn't as smooth in practice as envisioned. Working on a redesign...
Detail on the rear tail. While the hinged "wings" were truly only added because I thought the rear section would look better with them, I'm going to pretend they had a higher purpose all along and call them static discharge vanes. Their positioning, size, stated function, and very presence are subject to change.
One final shot showing the SHIP in its entirety.
That's all for now. Next post on this project will be the finished product. All that's left is the bottom and some finishing touches on the sides.
