As with the recently recreated PCS T.R.A.V., my Eastern Block "Small Transport" model felt incomplete to me after presenting it to the public. Critics and reviewers provided invaluable commentary that led to the reconstruction of the ship with a new look and purpose.
My concerns with the model:
-The black “Star Wars shooters.” A couple of Lugnet.spacers and MOCpages reviewers expressed dislike for these glaringly obvious pieces of weaponry. What use does a small shuttle have for huge blasters? None. Off they go!
-Presence of black in the color scheme. Specific credit goes to Bram Lambrecht for this one. He suggested to increase the amount of black or get rid of it. I chose to get rid of it. For the better or worse, you decide.
-General lack of fine detail/greebling. This one is more my observation than anything else. The model just looked and felt too smooth to me. I utilized multiple revolvers in the new craft, to give a piping/tube effect.
-Change of shape from midsection of craft to cockpit portion. John Henry Kruer noted that the change was quite abrupt, and were the shooters removed it would be even worse.
-Lack of landing gear. Paul Baulch and others outside the .space forum pointed out the absence. The model fell over during original photography, and had to be propped with other bricks. Sad. I came up with some (relatively) unobtrusive support legs.
-Lack of genuine purpose. This was the most glaring to me, and was hinted at by other builders. A small shuttle with uber shielding? And four huge blasters? One pilot? No chairs for transportees? What shuttles needs that weaponry, and has no seats for its riders? Pah.
Please make a visit to the Brickshelf gallery and view the photos of this reenvisioned moc. I'm quite proud of the improvements made over the original.
Thanks for checking this out. Criticism always appreciated!
