After a few days of solid building, I have finished the evolutionary chain of over half of my intact Pokemon MOCs. I have also learned two things: basic Pokemon are hard to build, and I have a LOT of intact Pokemon. Enjoy!
About this creation

First things first, I finally got one of those ninja sets and replaced Scyther's droid arms with the better looking skeleton ones.

Jolteon also got an upgrade, making him closer to being minifig scale.

Jolteon's a little chubbier than the original, but I definately like his new ears.

Shellder. Not my favorite, but I felt like I had to make him because Cloyster is still put together. I need more purple.

I used handcuffs and round pins to hold it together. This is one of the most illegal techniques I've used, but handcuffs are flexible, no biggie. :)

Shellder and Cloyster.

Goldeen. After the trouble I went through to make a good Seaking, I wasn't about to strain myself with this.

Goldeen and the much more elaborate Seaking.

Tentacool. Looks suprisingly good from the front. I'm actually somewhat happy with this one.

Side view, not so much.

Tentacool and Tentacruel. Two good reasons to use fly rather than surf.

Psyduck. Oh boy.

Most of these guys I'm making in case I do a comic or something, so I can have Pokemon that actually evolve and stuff. Psyduck may evolve quicker than others.

Golduck and Psyduck. What do you know, Golduck looks better in the game And in Lego! I'm sensing a pattern here. Almost all basic Pokemon look lamer than their evolved forms.

Weedle and Kakuna. Moving up.

Weedle looks better out of these two, but is more out of scale than Kakuna. I like how the horn turned out. Too bad it's barely attached.

Kakuna. Simple, but hey, it's a Kakuna.

Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill.

Eevee. Tiny details, tiny amounts of friction.

The head is attached to a clip by the hands used as ears. It's sturdy enough to pick up by the head, but that's about it. Looks good though.

Eevee and Jolteon. I plan on rebuilding my Flareon and making a Vaporeon eventually too.

Golem. Heavily based off of Deus', seen here. I cleaned up his design a bit, but they are very similar. Thanks for the dish sphere design, Deus!

The arms are well-shaped, but too long.

The good thing about my design for Golem is the poseability. Whee!

The Geodude, Graveler, and Golem trio.

Bulbasaur and Ivysaur. Finally.

Ivysaur was the easier of the two to make, seeing as he's a bit larger so I could fit more detail on him.

The only hiccup in the design is the flat butt. He needs to get on the stairmaster.

Side view. I'd have to say, he looks better from the front. V2 in the future, maybe.

Bulbasaur: The Holy Grail of all Pokemon MOCs. The only thing more impressive would be a minifig-scale Haunter. This Pokemon took the longest out of all of these to design.

There are still some gaps and issues with my design, but once the parts are invented and manufactured by Lego, I'll upgrade him.

The bulb took a long time to figure out. With some designs, the army helmet would have looked good. Others, the gnome hat. I ended up using the gnome hat because it looked the best with a more compact, to-scale Bulbasaur. I'm pleased with the result.

Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur. <3

My current Lego Pokemon collection, totaling 33 intact Pokemon. Yeah, I need to get out more.

An extra pic for the group, Pokemon: They CYOA. Team Nova is the villain in the storyline, so I figured I'd make a little poster thing for them.
Thanks for viewing, let me know what you think!

Hey Cody awesome job! I am just getting started trying to build my own minifig scale pokemon and have been studying a lot of different designs on mocpages to see what other people have done. Is there anyway you can tell me the instructions or pieces used to make ivysaur? Thanks and keep it up!
Most of it is pretty basic, it's built pretty much the way it looks. On the inside, there is this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4081b and this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=42446 for those changing angles. |

You haven't really put all your pokemon in your group shot like sanslash and gengar but I guess you didn't put them because those and some of your others are not minifig scale
PS.Why do have only have pokemon that are from Kanto and Johto?
I've scrapped a few Pokemon, that picture is all I had at the time. I only build Gen. 1 and 2 Pokemon because they're my favorite. Gen. 3 and beyond hold little interest for me. |

I have a question Cody, what are some easy pokemon to make because i am thinking about making some. I have already made a sneasel. Any suggestions??
Large Pokemon are the easiest to make if you have the parts, they require less tricky connections and tiny details that small Pokemon often require. Black or grey Pokemon are also a bit easier in my experience because so many sets have specialty parts in those colors. Clips and minifig hands are my favorite things to use when building Pokemon. Drop a comment my way when you post them, I want to see your sneasel! :) |

How did you get golem to be round???
I got the design from Deus. There's a 1x1 brick with the studs on all sides in there, and a couple of studs topped with a dish get connected, and then the rest are held in by friction. |

please post eevee instructions!!!!!
Eevee is actually pretty basic. The only difficult attachment is the head. Basically, you have to put the minifig hands on just right so that they push the white clip-tile into the brown head tile with enough friction that it stays there. The rest is just a robo arm and two round studs stuck on a 1x2 plate. |

i never understood the buzz around those, i guess i was too old, once again, i see those as elements for my city stories, as monsters or mechanical treaths! as such, a few models are outstanding! mostly some gray and some yellow models, i don t know their names, but, your design was great on them! good work cody!
Thanks for all your input, most people who don't know much about these themes don't even bother commenting, or leave just a few words. You, on the other hand, have lots to say on the build, even if the theme is unknown to you. :) |
