A little challenge for other builders.
About this creation
No I did not build the main photo...
Here is a challenge for all those Transformers fans and engineers out there.
I am going to try and build a fully functioning and transforming demolisher Moc. However I will only be able to do this if somebody creates a workable solution to my challenge.
Using the tracks below I would like people to try and create a working solution to Demolisher's wheel transformation. As many of you may know, Demolisher's wheels are created from the caterpillar tracks of his vehicle mode and making this transformation is very easy for him, but not so easy for us trying to replicate it in lego.
I will also be trying to design this mechanism but other ideas are more than welcome.

The tracks I would prefer you to use.
If anybody has a solution then please leave a comment and a link to your page, it doesn't have to be on Mocpages, if you make a video of it and put it on Youtube then direct me there or if it is on Flickr then thats fine too.
Hopefully somebody will be able to build a good mechanism to change caterpillar tracks into wheels and if so I may just decide to build Demolisher and even the other constucticons...

I made a transformable one here, check it out. How ever i don't have the catapillar treads so i just put the wheels on after the transformation. With the type of wheels i have theres no way for them to fit into the vehicle mode
Wow, that's awesome. Should give me some ideas if I ever build mine. Thanks for the comment. |

look at this video at about 1:53 this should be a good starting point for having the treads pop out from oblonge to round. If you can figure out this mechanism you should be able to expand it to your needs.

Thanks, that is actually going to be really useful. I knew it had to be possible somehow but now have some proof. Now I just have to work out how to replicate it. Please let me know if you think of anything else.
Thanks! |

I would suggest to point Chris roach (the legoformer master) in this direction. He's very good at finding solutions and a top guy to boot. Good luck with this, my mind boggles lol |

This looks challenging. And becasue of that, iwill try to help you! Also because i like Leos that transform or do other cool things :)
Thats very kind of you, and thanks for adding me as a favourite builder, even though none of this old stuff is any good... |

A bunch of click joints would probably work, just make a ring of them and it will flatten out nicely. |

i have no page because this is just a idea but make it so each wheel has to treds and then the bottom one separate and the top half separate and fold over so their equal to the other tred
Think I get what you mean, would be interesting to try out but I also want to keep the transformation as close to the movie version as possible. Not that I know how the official version works so it is sort of a huge guess and an engineering marvel. Thanks for the suggestion! |

At first I was thinking you made that gigantic machine. But little did I know.
Wish I did, it would save a lot of trouble... |

That's quite a challenge. I made a really simple ROTF Deolisher a while ago when pics of the toy were first leaked and I cheated little with the wheel.
