The Breaking of Narsíl
This is an 8x8 representation of the Last Alliance, from the last chapter of 'The Silmarillion', by JRR Tolkein. The only scene from the book in the movie, where the shorn end of Narsil takes the ring from Sauron's finger.
About this creation
My entry for Ru Corder and Aidan Moon's great idea: their Silmarillion Contest . Feel free to enter, there are 7 days left!

Note: Although I named this "The Breaking of Narsíl", it represents the whole Last Alliance, and the battle on the slopes of Orodruin, or Mount Doom. Isildur, a desendant of Numenor and heir to the kingship of Gondor, marched with his father Elendil with Gil-Galad and the elves of Middle Earth to try and halt the increase of Sauron's power. After defeating Sauron's forces in the Misty Mountains, and winning the battle of Dagorlad. The forces continued on towards the Black Gate itself, where Sauron took his last stand on the slopes of Mount Doom.

There, Elendil was injured. Isildur ran to his dying father and lifted up the sword of the king's (Narsíl) and cut the Ring of Power from Sauron's finger, ending the 1st campaign of Sauron.

Please enjoy!

Here is a zoomed up shot of Isildur, lying over the slumped figure of his father Elendil, the sword in his hand.

Sauron. He was very fun to design. Now I know he is not to-scale, rather he is the same size as Isildur. The reason is because making Sauron to scale would have exceeded the limits of this 8x8 contest. So instead I made him midi-scale and had him tower over Isildur in pose, instead of size.

The backside of the vignette. Here an org attacks on elf on the slopes of Mount Doom. This represents the battle of the last alliance, whereas the front more portrays the breaking of Narsíl.

Zoomed in on my orc minifig. He is custom seeing as though I didn't have any official 'Castle' brand orcs.

The vignette from the top. This is one of my favorite rock-work jobs.

The front of the vignette without figs.

The back: fig-less.

Sauron the Deciever. His power-club is in one hand, and the ring is in the other.

Elendil (Injured). The blood is using my 'patented' (more like 'used in every MOC') "Scotch-tape-and-fine-point-sharpie" technique.

Isildur, king of Gondor. I finally found a use for that Qui-Gonn Jin hair that actually was movie accurate. I have tried it on Legolas, Denethor, and even the guard at Chateau D'If in my The Whipping: From 'The Count of Monte Cristo'. But I think it looks good on Isildur. Besides now it has looked like a reach. But I am so psyched on how it looks I am droning. Moving on...

My elf and orc. The golden pants are from C-3PO and the head for my orc is a secret. Kudos to whoever can figure it out!

My semi-artistic shot of Narsíl about to sever the ring from Sauron's finger. I shot it at an angle to make Sauron look bigger than Isildur.

Please rate and comment!

Go Lord of the Rings!

May the best MOC win!

Man, I thought it would be trickier. When I got The Monster figure from CM series 4 I was shocked at what the base face for Frankenstein looked like. I was hoping some people would be stumped by what it looks like without the head extension. Oh, well. It looks great, no?

You know, not much guessing needed for the orc face - collectible minifigures are far too popular to have anything people wouldn't know about.
